Loss of Power with new exhaust ??

I just had a new Tubi Style exhaust installed on my 09 C2S....i dont know if its my imagination but the car doesnt seem as quick as it was prior to the install.

When I did this I was looking for a more exotic sound from the car and not necessarily power gains (although that would be a welcome side effect)....but I definitely did not want to lose power !!

Should I just wait for things to readjust and settle in or does the ECU need to be flashed..(i was not planning on having to do an ECU flash and would prefer not having to do this)

Thanks for all suggestions

Even without software that tubi exhaust ought to produce gains not loss . It's lighter, has less backpressure , has a center muffler delete -- unless the fitment is not correct . Or unless it's a defective exhaust (ie bent in shipping or transport) .

Don't panic .. part of tuning comes the potential to hit a snag and this one sounds like it can be easily resolved . Hang in there . Get it checked out . when its resolved everything is going to be ok . You'll see.

Like I said it is just a subjective feeling.....no hard data to support what I am feeling

It was installed by a very reputable and experienced high end shop in my area so I am confident the install is correct.

It was my first impression, the thing is now you hear your engine louder all the time, and before you just hear the noise when you accelerate. But the true is that your car have more power know and Tubi is a great exhaust.

The free-flowing exhaust likely freed up a few HP on the top end of the RPM range at the expense of some low-end torque... because most street driving takes place in the lower RPM band, you're probably just noticing the resulting sluggishness off the line

+1, you are most likely feeling the loss of a little Torque. Although mufflers alone will not give you any noticeable gains, they are just noise makers IMO.

^ agreed. But just to clarify...while a muffler should not produce noticeable gains in hp, it shouldn't lower torque either.

To the OP: I would reset the ECU...it may have pulled timing after the new muffler was installed - it did for me. Just disconnect the negative terminal for about 2 - 3 hours. It felt snappier afterwards...and doesn't hurt to try.

Yes you are correct, but the placebo effect on the drive has caused his butt dyno to give him zero gains, making him wonder him there is actually a loss of power

It is more like it sounds almost as good as the Cup car, so it should be almost as fast!

The negative terminal of your battery. Front trunk, behind the plastic cladding, in the middle.

Cattman experienced something similar to what you are feeling when he installed his AH mufflers and a reset of the ECU cured all ills.

Good luck!

Porsche didnīt left much left regarding power gains on these DFI engines, itīs very hard to gain power on todays atmo Porsche engines, and a new exhaust is already good enought if you donīt loose any power, so I wouldnīt be surprise if you actualy are loosing power.

OP: How many miles do you have on your car? I recently had Tubi installed on my car, initially I felt that way too, I disconnected the negative to reset the ECU and after driving around for >500 miles, car feels much faster and the exhaust got LOUDER too.

Let us know how it goes...
