X-51 headers vs. Race Headers by Tubi(997S)

I've been on this site for a while now, & you guys clearly know your stuff! I'm wondering has anyone on 6spd had any experience w/ 997S race headers by Tubi & how they compare to the X-51 headers?

No personaly experiance with either of these but I track with guys that have both. You will not find a night nd day difference over stock header or X51 headers or the long tube Fabspeed headers....but if you are doing a full exhaust system and ECU tune think of them as part of the package to make everything work it's best together. The Fabspeed long tube race headers will provide more exhaust flow especially if later down the road you decide you want to do more work to the engine for more HP.

Save a ton of money and get the X51 headers...the money you save will get you the 200cpi metallic cats. Thats where the hp is...

WOW, what an ignorant comment!!!!!

I guess Nascar, Indy, ALMS, SCCA and every person that drives a car on the track must be UN-AMERICAN.

Because those cars run catless along with every other race cars and track cars that run almost everyday around the USA.

My is not a dd and barley get used that much on the street, considering its a 4 year old with 20K miles.'

But your entitled to your thoughts and comments.

Hey if it's track only then that is cool. The new 'America' is environmentally concious in case you hadn't yet got the memo. Oh and my thoughts are always well thought out before they are written!

So what is the difference between a track car driving 100-500 miles per day on a track catless & a street car driving the same??

If the car is on the track does it pollute less? Is the air/atmosphere its going into any different?

Seems like quite a contradiction.

BTW are you a politician by any chance . . . sounds like the same type of thinking.

The type of performance needed on the track is different then that needed on the street...current laws permitting. The overall volume of track time vs. street time makes it acceptable for the track. We as a society have to make a choice whether we're part of the problem or part of the solution. In the future, I would argue, you will see an end to track emissions as well, as racing technology moves toward hybrid or electric.

Yes, there is no difference. But it's also pretty rare that an (exclusive) track car gets driven the same amount as a DD annually. Truth is, I read the initial comment as 'a dd that has no cats'. Clearly I read it wrong too.
I'm a very eco-oriented guy and would be rather put off by someone who does the typical DD miles of 10K-15K per year with no cats. Clearly not the case here. All that said, I actually consider auto emissions a relatively 'solved' problem. Cars (except for CO2 of course) are remarkably clean. It's the coal plants that all of the plug-in electric car lovers are inadvertently creating (or will be creating) that have to get dealt with. I wouldn't allow plug-in electrics until there is a sweeping nuclear plant buildout plan.
Oh and finally, and I mean this solely as a helpful tip to the cat-less comment, it's generally unwise to document online that you are violating the law, however trite or trivial it might be. Just some free advice.
P.S. I keep hearing how there are lots of great deals to be had on x51 headers. Where do you find 'em?

Eliminating the catalytic converters, in lieu of free flow units, is only good for a few horsepower at best. It hardly seems to be worth the problems with check engine lights and failing emission inspections. In New York, with yearly inspections, it means lots of tickets and they won't let you renew the registration. You can even get a ticket from the town/county parking agents for an expired inspection or registration sticker.

I don't understand how a discussion on the environment makes its way into a Porsche forum. These cars in the "New America" as you call it, are definitely not environmentally friendly as these things go.

I doubt you share in that position (I certainly don't), so why take such a stand over a trivial issue such as someone wanting to remove their CAT from their car? It's their car, their risk... I think we should leave it at that.

So is the consensus that the X-51's don't have an advantage over the tubi headers? I thought in general the headers aren't worth the dough per AWE Tunings Dynographs. Muffler (Sound)/ Cats (Power/Louder Sound) is where its at. right?

So should I not even bother w/ either one until I decide to do motor work?
