Comparable Vehicles To The 997 Carrera S Cab

Trying to get other members opinions on this. Kind of getting bored with my 997 Carrera S Cab. Trying to go another route. What vehicles would you consider would be a good substitute for it? I already have a GT3RS, so will still have a Porsche but looking for something different. I traded my M6 for the Carrera S and I miss the power and torque. I know I could go the supercharger route, etc.. but trying to stay stock as it is my daily driver and don't want any warranty headaches. Any input would be appreciated.

I am not a convertible fan but recently I happened to look over the Ferrari California . Yikes!!! It looks like the first possible daily driving Ferrari . It's not low and wide like the F430 which makes it easy to park without getting dinged . It's fast , beautifully done interior, great sound , and has this amazing retractible top . Local Ferrrai dealership had a beautiful charcoal type color which gave this very understated appearance yet it has a lot of class.

I believe the California runs around $200,000 which is more than I am looking to spend on my daily driver. Wanted to stay under $90,000 or so. I was looking at pre-owned Gallardo's and 360's however, good ones are still tough to be had at that price and maintenance is always a concern. Also looked at Aston Martin however, wasn't too impressed with the vehicle. So far the most appealing has been the CLK63 BS.

CLK63 BS is a nice option, not sure you'll hit your price target though

I have seen quite a few 08 CLK63 BS in the 80k range, so don't think that will be an issue. Only thing is I love manual transmissions, so MB doesn't offer that.

In the 90K convertible range you have the ideal car already . I can not think of anything better .

If you are looking for a 90K fast car with a little more risk -- how about a GTR ? it will blow the doors off your cab .. just don't use launch control.

I don't necessarily what to get another cab, would be nice but not the main thing. Thought of the GTR however, not a manual and not sure if that's the vehicle I want. I looked at the Viper as well, not sure if I would give up my Porsche for a Viper or GTR. SL55 or SL65 has been quite tempting but no manual and old body style for the price range I have been looking at.

Pops has a SL65 and while its faster than #@$@, it can get boring pretty quick. Traction is a big issue as well.

If not the clkbs then a second hand 997tt? Don't like the AM too much either. Any other mercedes might come short in the handling/being nimble department and I'm sure the 997tt will still feel a worlds apart from your 3rs.

idk bout you but the M6 might have hp/tq but the C2S is faster in every way... so why do you feel like you downgraded when the C2S is faster?

what i would say compares to C2S is M6/Aston V8 of course the aston and m6 are more but depreciate much faster..

gallardo will let you down, and the black series CLK fad has come and gone imo.

You might have to spend less to come close. The BMW 135i is a special car. The M6 and 3 series are too big, the Aston too soft and flakey. The 135i is the closest to the 2002tii that they've come in years. But as another poster noted, you really do have the best $90K car.
Oh, and then there's the Exige. The factory now endorses removal of the top. I could make it a DD, but I might be a bit on the edge.

my DD is a CL600, its a great car - a little bigger than what others have suggested but plenty fast and really luxurious.

How about a Tesla? Costs a little more up front but you'll save it on gas and you get to make a positive statement while supporting the local economy.

Lightly used Audi R8... exotic looks, great performance, good reliability, and daily drivable.

After that I'd go Gallardo. The 05+ are quite bullet-proof, and not high-maintenance like a F360 would be. Might be a little tight inside for a daily, but many people do it. Be ready for a crowd in every parking lot though.
