Anybody using Tire Cradle?

Saw these advertised in the PCA publications. Basically hard rubber/foam pads to park the tires on to prevent flat spots. I bought a set and I was thinking about using these for winter storage months. Anybody else heard of this or using them?

I have a set and parked my 360 on them during the winter months during 2 winters. They did just as advertised and were completely effective at preventing flat spots.

How long would you say a car would need to sit for you to need these?

Probably 2 months, I'd say. You can mitigate the flat spot risk by over-inflating the tires, but then you have to remember to reset the pressures if you're going to drive it. Alternatively, you can just take the car for a short drive so that the tires aren't resting in one spot for long...the Tire Cradles were just easier for me because I didn't want to have to deal. My F-car was parked on a 4-post lift and covered for the winter, and the summer tires were hard as rocks in the cold, so very low traction...

Gotcha. Seeing as this is the first car I've ever owned that was not a daily driver, I wasn't sure. Thanks for the insight. I drive the car every month and in Florida, no need to pack it away for the Winter, so I should be pretty set on not having to worry about this. Thanks!

Tire Cradles are fine, although expensive. I like to park on 1/4" thick 1 foot square rubber pads easily bought inexpensively from a hardware store. For long term storage I think that 50 PSI tire inflation is important (of course write yourself a note to check tire pressures once the car leaves storage).

Have the tire cradles and find they do a good job. I drive the car on most weekends, but have found that during vacations and periods of being too busy it is good to have them. Also serves as a stopping point for pulling into the garage in the same place everytime without hanging tennis ball or other contraptions.

My selling dealer told me that becaue the tires on our 911s are so 'low profile' and have a relatively soft sidewall, that a car that sits on concrete for more than two weeks can begin to develop flat spots. The service manager definitely recommended cradles if the car is going to be put up for extended periods.

Something else that I wasn't aware of.. Even though you might keep your car in a garage (secure), it's always best to lock it after you leave it. Locking the car turns off all the sensors that use battery power to maintain whatever it is they're sensing. Leaving the car unlocked means that the sensors are always 'on'.
