Valentine Location?

Need some suggestions on Valentine detector locations.
Would rather not hang it below the rear view mirror. Anyone pull power from the lights above?

Also,

997.2-Love the note from the exhaust but want to hear more,

Suggestions?

Self dimming mirror circuit works great.
Do a search.

Perfect spot is not below - it is above self dimming mirror, on a left side from its column, just next to lights cluster. That open space is exactly right for V1 to fit. Use black electrical tape on V1 holder and body to secure its position - somewhat middle one so when you push buttons it would not slide back and hit glass.

Search this forum or RennTech to find how to remove lights cluster and what wires to choose for V1 power - then you`ll cut and put V1 cord via mirror`s cord hole and it will be perfectly in place. Try it on and you`ll see - it fits like a charm.

I just had mine hardwired into this exact position and it's perfect. Easy to reach to mute, not in the way of anything when driving, and harder for thieves to spot.

I had mine hardwired directly into the fuse box along the upper roof line then
down the front driver's side pillar. With some extra slack allowed, I can move it from above left of mirror to below center if necessary. Whatever location you choose, make sure you have a clear, unobstructed line through the rear windshield. If you choose to wire somewhere else, make sure the power source is off when the ignition is off. I had the dealer install mine since I didn't want to take a chance of comprising my CPO warranty. It cost a few dollars to install, but it's done right with Porsche blessing. The V1 is such a great defensive weapon. Good luck

I have mine high on the right side (slightly above) of the mirror, doesn't get blocked by my sun visor. Hardwired into fuse block, switched.

mee two.

It sure was simple to hardwire into the fuse block. That tapping into the lights up above seems like a real operation. For me, I didn't think it was worth the extra headache, it is so easy to hide the cable and run it into the fuse area...

Just to the left of the mirror (as shown in LD's post above) is ideal. It's particularly nice in a cab, because you can flip down the sun visor and hide the flashing red display from an officer behind you, but even when doing so the rear-facing laser sensor is unobstructed.

If you've got self-dimming mirrors the switched power you need is right there, too.

couldn't wait til the w/e so just wired it just now... all-in, it was pretty easy and took about 1hr...

i dont have the auto-dimming mirrors so tapped the wires to the interior lights. its not switched, but was the only option (aside from the sunroof motor wires)...

also couldn't find enough space under the light console to fit the hard wiring terminal plug, so ended up sticking it to the outer casing (of the light console, near the base of the mirror)...

will post some pictures over the w/e...
