'Safely' Removing Under Door Pocket Lid

I just received a new set of Carbon Fiber Under Door Pocket Lids and am having trouble removing the original parts. There are clips at either end of the piece that need to be popped out, but apparently the middle section is glued to the inside material of the storage box. Does anyone have any suggestions or best practices for getting this piece removed?

I have the plastic interior install tools, but am struggling to get the clips popped out, much less the glued section.

Don't you have to taeke the door panel off? Gundo has a DIY here somehwhere, as well as on renntech, if you search for it. If, in fact you do have to take the door panel off, it's time consuming, but if you're handy and have the right tools, it's totally doable. I may be doing this soon myself as I continue to "de-rattle" my car.

No need to remove the door panel, all of the connecting pieces are accessible from the 'outside'. Just looking for a good process to remove the piece and cut from the glued section with minimal effect on the car.

I may end up seeing if the dealer can do it...I have a follow-up to some maintenance scheduled.

It requires door panel removal. That's the way to do it safely

Sorry, I misunderstood and thought you were trying to remove the door armrests...duh. The trim piece you are referring to cannot be easily removed. It isnt secured by any screws or plastic rivets - I think there is a strong adhesive that holds it in place. In your case I'd mask everything up and use a flat black spray paint (or if you can find a suitable dye, perfect) on that piece when the door panel is out of the car. I believe that if you try to remove that trim piece you will end up destroying it in the process.

I decided to use some nail polish remover to scrap the soft paint off. It was hard and time consuming. can anyone recommend a better solvent to remove the paint? still have the passenger side to tackle.
