TPMS and 18" winter tire package

Have a winter tire package that includes 18" Pilot Alpins mounted on Victor Equipment Lemans wheels. Purchased it from a previous Porsche owner that used it on an '08 911 S. Called my Porsche dealer and Victor equipment just to make sure they will fit on the '09. Both said no problem and installed them. Love them. Went to relearn the tpms system. Selected winter tire, 18" and the center dash said process complete. Then went to relearn the pressure. That also said process complete but then 'set' appears and the light does not disappear. Went to check pressure and the right reads 33psi front, 37 psi rear. The left side says requiring. Tried to relearn SEVERAL times but to no success. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Regarding your problem with TPMS, did they install new sensors? Sounds like one is defective. They should learn and lock after driving only a few miles. Mine always have. You do need to drive and not just sit still for the sensors to work properly.

I am about to go this route on my 09 C4S and use 18" Victor Zehn's in black and Pirelli Sottozero II N2's. Do you have PCCB? I was a tad worried about clearance even though the owners manual shows the 18" option with no asterisk.

09 and 08 TPMS sensors are different models. They changed with new model year. When I ordered from Suncoast they looked up the TPMS model with my VIN. Once you have the correct sensors, just follow direction in your manual. It takes couple of minutes.

I do not have the PCCB but there is at least one inch clearance, maybe more. Car rides great with the 18 inch set-up. went from 295 down to 265 in back and the same 235 up front.

That has to be it. Followed everything by the book. They were originally used on an '08 Carrera S for one winter. Can they change the sensors without dismounting the tire?

No. The sensor is mounted on the wheel inside of the tire. Easy to install once the tire is off. The sensors cost me little over $400. You probably could reuse the stems.

997sRider, thanks for the info. I guess my alternative is to drive the winter with the light on.....Will probably get the sensors.

Local dealers were charging over $700 just for the sensors. I ordered from Suncoast. Very nice folks. By the way, the new sensors are much more accurate than the previous ones.

Yes. I also got 997.1 sensors with a set of wheels and they generated the same error message on my 09'. I got the sensors from Suncoast and my dealer is installing them without dismounting the tires. They empty the air out and then push the tire in to change the sensor. I'm using the same stems.

Good luck,
DRP

This information is correct. That's the reason you are getting the error message. If anyone needs the new ones I have them for about $100 a corner.
