No more Saab?

Just saw those news - so, are they going for real just literally shut it down, close all factories and fire everybody?
Uau.

Yes, it really is being shut down, it's the big news in Sweden today. I grew up about 10 miles from the SAAB HQ, and I can tell you that the people who live around those neighbourhoods are not very happy today. It's a shame, SAAB used to be a great car before GM f**ked it up.

83 900Turbo and 85,86 Saab 900 SPG's were my family utility and winter ski vehicles for many years while the Porsche's were for fun.
They were never the same after 92. 9's and the Saab Club kept me informed and taught me how to turn up the turbo's.
Farewell, old friend!

More sales in Chevy trucks than odd Swedish cars I take it. Maybe some Chinese company will buy it up like everything else.

So sad, I still have the 1980 Saab 900 turbo in very good condition. I love it.

Yes, it is a 1990 model. black with tan leather interior. Very roomy back seat. Is the best looking Saab IMO.

I have to wonder what the advantage is to winding the business down as opposed to selling it for something. I guess they would not get favorable treatment on all the liabilities if they did not completely close it down. This is 0 for 2 for GM. I guess they are negotiating like a bully.

I had an '83 900 for 13 years and my son drives our '89 9000S. Loved the first one, liked the second and would still love to have a 900-series turbo convertible or an SPG. One of the great and innovative car brands of all time. But GM took care of that. Sad day.
