RS-1 Muffler install (Review)
RS-1 Muffler install (Review)
Hello All,
Just received the RS-1 center muffler for the 997.2
Amazing service, packaging, and support from Justin @Rennsport-1
I decided to install the system myself just for the fun of it(never installed a muffler system before). I started by removing the rear bumper and the stock exhaust and then fitted in the RS-1 Muffler. Installation took me around 3.5 hours( It can take you a lot less if you have the right tools and have previous experience with the stock system.)
I also removed the negative terminal of the battery in order for the ECu to adapt to any changes in airflow after the installation. Once i was done i fired the car up, and was simply astonished
I think forum member the Greek summed it up when he said that the system sounds "Orgasmic"
At idle it has a deep rumble, very cool . Blip the throttle a bit and it snarls, Give it some more and it starts wailing. ofcourse all that is accompanied by burbles and gurgles as the rpms climb down.
I took a drive in it and i would say it is about 3.5 times as loud as stock. there also seems to be a slight drone between 2-3K rpms other than that range its fine. The drone wont drive you insane though, its mild. I dont know if its my but dyno or not but i could swear that the engine is revving more freely. Add to that the benefit of the lost weight from the stock muflers and you have yourself a good sounding, lightweight muffler that is considered a bargain when you look at the other competition.
Video coming soon

Yes I still want one...Your RS-1 system is right up my alley.
I have a Tubi system on right now( long story on how that got installed on my car)....a little quiet for me but still a nice sounding street system. Maybe I will sell my Tubi system or trade it in?!?!?!

There use to be a video on youtube and on RS's website. Did you search there yet?
I tried to capture a video with my cam, unfortunately it doesn't capture the true sound at all. But ill upload it anyways just to give you guys an idea.
Regarding the power gains with this system. To be honest i went with this system for the purpose of sound and weight loss, power wasn't my main objective since everyone seems to be claiming this and that (no offense to anyone)
I wanted to see if it indeed improved power over stock. i have a close friend of mine and we race from time to time (nothing dangerous, abandoned road, no cars whatsoever, and not a living soul in sight) He has an F430, which is ofcourse faster than the 997.2S. Before any mods he used to beat me by an average of 1 to 1.6 cars length( we race from around 50 to 180). I wanted to test the car today after installing the muffler( i also have the fabspeed intake) and it seemed like my car hung in there a lot better than before. It was almost dead even( i think he would move ahead at higher speeds). I dont know if its the weight reduction or added power, the thing i know is that this system works and you can take my word for it.
Big thumbs up to Rennsport-1

Here's the video we made just after completing the exhaust. As Justin mentioned, this was taken with only a few miles on the system. After a little break-in, the sound opened up a bit and really sounded great.

Have you done any dyno runs on your RS-1 to confirm any HP/TQ gains?
However, we do have a couple locals interested in the system, so you have my word, the first chance I get, it will be on a dyno.
If I use your rs-1 system do I need to get my ECU flashed. I spoke to my dealer and he said that if I changed my exhaust system I would need to spend 1,100 dollars to flash or upgrade my ECU. ANy thoughts or suggestions. Thank you.
