Which 997s are widebodies?

I was talking to the local dealer and he said that the "S" ones are widebodies, however I've read somewhere else that any C4 or C4S is also a widebody, which is true?

C4, C4S, Turbo, GT2, Targa, GT3-RS are wide bodies
C2, C2S, GT3 are narrow bodies.

The dealer was wrong. S and non-S have nothing to do with wide or narrow body on a 997

Only the C4, C4S, Turbo, GT3RS, and GT2 are "wide," but only by 1.75 iches or so.... But with the width you also get 4 wheel drive, except the GT3RS and GT2, I believe. I think you should talk to a different salesman...

I believe that your local dealer might want to sell Yugo's Rule #1 = know your product!

The "S" being a widebody applies to the 993 ( 1996 through 1998)

that is a widespread misconception.. i've heard plenty of people call the 997S a widebody...

some of it arises from the fact that ALL 997 narrowbody cars are "widebody" in comparison to their 996 counterparts... one of the MANY reasons why the 997 looks so much better than the 996. But yes, the C2, C2S and GT3 are all narrowbody... the others, as mentioned above are wider-bodied...

AS Lohnstoy SAID early in this thread-c2 and cs are the ones which are the narrow body ones. Just one confusion 997 GT3 is NOT a narrowbody!!! IT is as wide as the 997 Carrera 4s!
Surely you need to change a salesman-local dealer! Is he dealing with posche cars or beetles? tell him to do something usefull for his company....LEAVEEEE and deal with hosekeeping!!!

Why is it then an issue of the real GT3 rear bumper
fitment to the C2s?

I would assume the mounting points are different, but trust me, I've seen guys with OEM GT3 rear bumpers on their narrow-body 997's. Once again, I am 100% sure the 997 GT3 is the same body as a 997 Carrera/ Carrera S.
