Porsche Sport Exhaust
I customized the panel to accept another switch. I of course used the 'double exhaust tip button' from a non SC+ panel. I had a hidden switch (in the console) before but decided to spend the time to implement the PSE function in an 'OEM' fashion. There is a previous thread concerning this modification. Do a search and you'll find it.
Resurrecting an old thread - but did you ever sell your switch?
I have a 08 C2S with sports chrono, but that cable I have to unplug is not there. Is there something special with my model? I'll go home and take a picture of it later if no one knows.
Thats the one !!!
made all the difference ! as loong as it doesn't affect anything else i will never reattach that plug cheers!
The only thing I can think of is when your PSE mufflers were installed the installer didn't bother to install any of the vacuum or electrical connections. Therefore your PSE would be in the 'loud' state I believe all the time. No DME and/or driver control.
Had factory PSE installed by dealer on my '11 Carrera S. Negotiated price and install with total price, including taxes, of $3800. Install with on/off switch, etc, is time consuming for the dealer. I wanted to stay factory and still get the better exhaust sound and I am happy. I just turn the switch to "on" at the same time I make the switch to "sport mode" every time I turn the car on.
Thanks for the reply AP. I thought PSE comes standard on a 08 C2S, and the Carfax & PPI didn't show any modifications. I know I have PSE, because I can feel the throttle remap and hear the deeper tone of the exhaust when I turn on 'Sport' mode.
Nothing fancy is standard on a Porsche. Top Gear, well Clarkson, whines on and on about that. I love it, because it means you can get the car with the features you want, and not the ones you don't want. (I'd be annoyed if Bose was stock on all cars, or do a bonehead Audi thing and only deliver TDI's with automatics in the US)
Porsche Sport Exhaust - PSE - that is the exhaust only, mufflers and the controls to change the baffles to bypass a part of the sound muffler.
The throttle remap is 'Sport Mode' and a sport package that is separate from PSE. Although, if they are both installed, they should work together. (the way sport mode and the active suspension option do)

First off . . I don't believe the 2008 997S had PSE as 'standard' equipment. It was optional; if the car had Sport Chrono then it was integrated w/ the DME. If the car didn't have Sport Chrono the factory installed option had a 'exhaust logo' button in the same panel as PSM to turn it on/off. If you have your 'window sticker' price sheet it should have an option entry w/ PSE listed for if I recall $2,500 or so.
Bottom line . . If you don't see the vacuum lines, solenoid, etc then crawl under the rear of your car and attempt to spot the valves (attached to the mufflers) that port the exhaust to the muffler chambers.
Here's a copy of the various components of the PSE. It might help you sort this out.
