Porsche Sport Exhaust
Porsche Sport Exhaust
Hey does anyone know if the valves can be adjusted so it's louder through the rpms? Or is there an aftermarket exhaust that can use the switch inside the car to really increase the sound? Was debating Tubi or Borla...any thoughts?
What year is your car? Have you tried a search on this topic? You will find a lot of info, if you do.
Many here adapt the PSE so that it's "loud" all the time. Very easy to do so. In terms of other muffler choices, it's much discussed topic, and very personal as well, as sound tastes are very subjective.
What is fact is that the PSE is very heavy compared to most other options.

Just has PSE installed yesterday, with, my own ashtray off/on switch.
DME bypass, direct 12Volt switch.
Had it on my 06 that way and love it on my 09.

My understanding to add PSE (at least from my local dealer) is right around $4K in total. Now. I suspect you could get all of the parts from a place like SunCoast for a little over $2K (exhaust, vacuum, dash switch..etc....complete) and do yourself if you are handy.
My thought is. If thats the sound you prefer (and I loved mine when I had my 04'C4S) and intend on it being full-on always that might be one way to proceed doing it yourself. (And keep the other items for later if you choose to do a complete install). BUT......I think I've heard every one say that a normal install puts it OFF and only on if you engage sportmode.......So if the dealer does it, they would need to make an alteration in the on/off...etc.

Personally, I think if you like the sound of the PSE with loud on, you'd be better suited to check out some of the aftermarket options out there. There are several companies (Cargraphic or Tubi to name a few) that can offer you the perfect sound you're looking for, while also saving tons of weight over the PSE system.
Between our previous 997 shop car and our current 997.2 shop car, we've used and tried just about every exhaust combination out there. Feel free to give me a call if you want some first hand thoughts on the sounds of some of the options.

Used my switch as noted.
Install could be $500 to $600. Porsche specifies 6 Hours, but that included wiring the dash switch and going through the DME.
The install was a bit more complicated than the 06 997S install
Ashtray switch to fuse box should save time.

I'd be half-tempted to find someone that isnt using their original 997.2 secondaries and doing the alteration similar to that one. (It almost looks like a total bypass, with "whatever" exhaust happens thru the muffler itself helps with the sound.
(Gives me an excuse to upgrade to a nice Tig!)

How and where did you run and connect the wiring? thanks
Fuse box to switch, to solenoid. Tech did it.
Grounded in engine bay. He said the wiring from engine to inside was a real pain compared to my 06!!

With regards to the original post ... I have an '02 4S with PSE and I prefer the louder tones. Is there a way to change the valves to have it even louder/throatier? I'm not all that interested in buying a new exhaust and the weight savings doesn't grab me since I just drive for pleasure.
