thanks
Alex,

I bought mine through Chris Sterling. Unfortunately, I took the Competition Air Intake out. I had a new wing and decklid put in. The Intake was rubbing against the decklid and made it difficult to shut. I already miss the sound and extra umphh! Things happen when "mods collide!" I have it for sale now in the Marketplace.

I'll be installing mine on my wife's '08 997.1 C2S this Christmas Eve. I won't tell her and we'll see how long it takes for her to notice.

Giving the gift of HP and Torque!

Thanks, Gus!

Some Grand Am teams tested this Fabspeed intake out and lost hp due to heat soak. I learned about this during a PBOC race/de event back in October I was at and was pitted with some of these teams during there testing. OBDII readings where showing elevated intake temps. It also did not provide any better air flow. The stock air box is a true cold air unit....Grand Am teams will wrap the stock box in gold foil also to keep it cool.

Just got my Fabspeed intake installed few hours ago. I love the increase hp and there is a definite feel of faster revving. One thing I noticed was, I take same route every day and on this on ramp as I gun it at 3rd to 2nd gear going into a highway, my psm kicked in where I never got that before. It's all due to 1 simple add-on. I love it. Normal driving, you won't even notice the difference.

Only thing I noticed was the noise at higher rpm. It feel like I got a new exhaust after 4500rpm. It's louder than I was expecting from intake. It doesn't sound like a air sucking in (whooshing noise) but rather rattling noise. I recheck the installation and it's solid and nothing is touching the air intake. It's sort of floating in the mid air. Does anybody here a same issue? Or is this perfectly normal?

Looking forward to putting X-pipe tomorrow. It's going to be even louder.... more hp.

Thx

+1 As for the HP numbers, if it was that easy to come up with 20 HP ,Porsche would use smaller engines and just add one of these, in plastic of course to reduce their cost by 90 %, to all of their engines. Would inprove CAFE numbers while selling big HP to their buyers.

This is only 6 hp shy of Porsche's $15k X51 option. Not bad if true.

Alex,

Sold the air intake. I had multiple buyers for a great looking and working bolt on! I am leaning towards adding the Fabspeed cats, so give Chris a great price when he calls you! I NEED those cats to go with my Maxflo's! Also going BMC with stock air box.....already ordered that from you.

I am convinced that adding the cats to my current mods will make a huge difference. I'll post pics and reviews when done! I have an S driver that wants to drag race.....can a modded base C2 pull it off?

Now all I need is a used set of 19/20 lb Champions!

Hey GTRR, hope you had a great new year and yes I can always take care of 6speed friends. With the Sport Cats, Mufflers and Air Filter upgrade, you will definitely give an S a run for his money . Shoot me a PM or give me a call for special pricing and we can go over the exhaust and wheels.
thanks,

thanks,
Alex....expect a call from Chris tomorrow. He works on my car and ordered a sport cat from you guys for Friday delivery. The BMC filter goes in too!

I got the PM on the reduced pricing. Thanks so much for your help. I just want to make sure that the adjustments in price are made prior to shipping! As I promised, I will send you pics of the install and completion. I am excited and can't wait to feel the difference!

I will love to see a twin filter intake for 997.1's and while you are there, just make a whole enclosure for it. I wouldn't mind making the second opening on my deck to accommodate the extra duct. Dual filter: Hot looking; single filter: not so much.

I'll stand in line with Joel for an X51-like two duct intake for the 997.1. Just based on photos of the X51 intake, it looks like it would not be difficult to make a very similar, less expensive version. If I were in the mod business, I might buy a $3400 X51 intake from Suncoast to get a better understanding of that design. Of course, I'd be carefull not to violate any patents . Maybe limiting the amount of carbon fiber and using a few silicon hoses could keep the cost down.

Yes, exactly... I can't believe nobody has done that. Take the X51 box, make the bottom part plastic, top part carbon and the inside could be what FabSpeed already has done with its twin intake. Sell it for under $1000 and you will get a bunch of orders. I shouldn't be that difficult for a company that already produces intakes and have done almost 80% of the set up already.
