Fabspeed 997 S High Performance Air Intake - Install pics, review!
Make that 4! A dual intake fully incased would be fabulous....as long as it stays under $800. You figure it's only good for 10-15 hp.
Hey Guys, I would be willing to put one of my guys on this new design and see what we can come with. We could do it all carbon fiber and see what we can do about keeping it under that price. The only issue is, running dual filters on the 997.1 trunk lid which only has one inlet for the intake, may not do much, but we can always try. If anyone is in the area and wanted to leave the car with us for few weeks, to design and test the intake, we could possibly do it.
thanks,
thanks,
Appreciate that one inlet is probably pointless on a dual filter setup, was expecting to alter deck lid to allow for a 2nd filter inlet..

Hi Alex, twin filters for the 3.6 and 3.8 997.1's is what is going to set your product apart from the competition. like I said before, I won't hesitate to cut an opening on the deck for the extra air duct. too bad you are not in Miami!
you get two filters if you put an x51 airbox on your 997S or base 997. You will need to do the extra opening on your deck for the extra duct. And yes, the whole idea is to replicate the looks of the X51 without the price tag.

There must be a reason why this knock-off version hasn't been made yet. Werks1 sells a weird looking intake that is somewhat similar to the X51. EVOMs, Gruppe M, and Carbonio sell intakes that only utilize one deck opening.
Here's another pic of the X51 intake that shows the deck openings. The plastic adapter piece that attaches to the deck can be bought online for ~$12.

If you are going to the trouble of using two filters in my opinion you need to increase the volume of air going to those filters, make it outside cold air and if possible add some sort of ram effect to force air into the intakes.
I would be happy to adapt the deck lid with another inlet (using the plastic adapter piece) as long as these intakes feed a closed system.
that's the key... the system is sealed from the engine and the only openings are for the ducts feeding cold air from the deck openings, one OEM (driver's side) and one that the customer has to open. (pass. side). Again, I'm not afraid to hack away. (ask my front bumper)
