I wanted an open face helmet, and didn't want to spend a lot so I bought this one.

Where in Texas are you? If you're near New Braunfels give Simpson Racing a call.

Different brands fit differently even though the size may be the same. You really need to go somewhere and try them on.

It is probably worth to say - new helmet should feel like it is too small for your head.
Also - in most internet shops you can discuss to buy 2 helmets and then return one which does not fit well. I got mine from saferacer.com - Shane James is an owner. I use simple open face G-Force helmet for $150 and it works fine. For recreational racing at auto-x and occasional DE you do not need more than that. As of size - me head measures 23" I needed medium size G-Force helmet, not large one.

If you are serious and plan on rolling your car and having yourself ejected while doing this most likely you may need to look at something more serious.

It's your head. How much is that worth to you? I've spent enough time in Brain rehab units (visiting family members) during the last year to know you need to protect that noggin as best you can. Don't cheap out on head protection.

Don't guess your size with mail order. You really need to try them all on. If you have a budget limitation to save your head, I would not do DE.
