Fabspeed Maxflow Mufflers - Looking for more...

I just installed the fabspeed mufflers on a 997 c2s. It's a touch louder then stock, but still quite mute IMO.

I'm looking for more agressive and louder. Thinking of taking the fabspeed mufflers off and installing the muffler bypass pipes, or installing sport cats (fabspeed or awe).

With the stock cats and muffler bypass pipes, is there a lot of droning or just minor?

200 cell sport cats will surely wake it up. The Fabspeed Maxflo are some of the better sounding mufflers on the market. Cargraphic or FVD might have something louder. I had Fab's Maxflo on my 07 and loved them but I can see where you might want more sound too.
I have Tubi on my 09 and they seem a little louder under hard throttle than the Fabspeed. The Tubi have a totally different sound. The Tubi is more raspy higher pitched where as the Fabspeed is lower pitched.

I would recommend installing our x-pipe sport cat in combination with the Fabspeed muffler if you are looking for more sound and power. The 2 combined sound great. I think the muffler bypass are going to be too loud and produce too much drone for you.

Here is a quick video of a 997S with Fabspeed mufflers and Fabspeed x-pipe sport cats.

We have these in stock and ready to ship. If you have any questions or would like to order call and ask for me and I would be more than happy to help out.

I second. I had the Fabspeed mufflers and then later added the x-pipe. Very well made and adds significant sound (db's and quality) to the car. I think it adds a bit of power as well, but I sit on the only dyno I own.
Don't forget to disconnect the battery for a few minutes when you install them. It resets back to default the ECU and improves the 'learning speed' after running with the new cats
I'd also recommend a set of equal-length headers for the car. While the 'patient is open', you should complete the job. I bought some old ones that were in the 'for sale' section here, but either Fabspeeds or the X-51's are fine (though pricier, I'd go with the Fabspeeds since they likely have been tuned as a set). Easy install job as well, but preparation is the key. Start squirting WD40 in to the header and cat-side bolts a week before the job and every day or two until the surgery. Stripping the header bolts is really not fun.

There's a video explaining it on the Fabspeed website.

To add, Fabspeed is not the only company making x-pipes although this is the first I've seen on commercial Porsches. Others make pipes that use a Bernoulli effect (from recollection - and please correct me if I've got this wrong) with the power stroke side (high pressure gas) flowing past an opening (on to nominal pressure gas) to create a vacuum on the lower pressure side. Thus the off-power side is vacuumed or scavenged allowing acceleration of the high-pressure gases when combustion occurs. It implicitly reduces back pressure and enables deeper breathing and quicker rev'ing.
I mention this only because some may think that the Fabspeed's part is a gimmick. If it is, all airplanes should be falling out of the sky right about now...

I heard Borla in person and it sounded pretty mean. I haven't heard the Fabspeed but have heard good things about their exhausts with the xpipe or headers.

I have Borlas along with the AWE 200cpi cats and it is very loud, just the way I like it. It is deep at lower revs but turns to more of a high pitch, angry-pissed off sound when it is under WOT at high revs. My brother heard me pull out of a gas station and he was wondering how I haven't gotten a ticket yet for excessive noise. The AWE cats are like the OEM setup, an X pipe will be more quiet-tame than the AWE setup non Xpipe. X pipes seem to turn the db's down a bit but they sound more "technical" vs. just loud.

An update - I have a muffler bypass on right now and really like it,

EXCEPT....

for the droning at 2-3k rpm. I'm living with it for now, but when the novalty wears off I'm looking at afterhours sport exhaust.

Anyone who has used afterhours - is there any drone?

For anyone looking at muffler bypass - if this car is a daily driver, and you frequent highways everyday I would suggest against this.
