2006 997 C2S CPO - $54k...Thoughts?

The car has Bose, Nav, short shifter, sport wheels, red seat belts, 4 brand new PS2's, just serviced, 23k miles.

$54k is the lowest they say they'll go.

I don't think I've seen a CPO car advertised that low, especially one that's only 3 hours drive away.

Thoughts?

The one that is listed at $54,994? If so, that means they are willing to only come down less than $1K? I'd think they could come down some more but I haven't followed the market closely for the last year so maybe the prices have firmed up. The four brand new PS2's are worth over $2K so that's nice.

For some sort of reference:

I purchased my CPO 2007 C2 coupe (not S) that sticker-ed for $88,xxx.00 with 16,500 miles for $54,000.00 + fee's from a Porsche dealer. I think you can add like $5,000.00 for it being an "S".

Hope this helps a little.

Good luck!

Steve

Yep, that's the one if it's guards red.

And yeah, they just won't move on the price.

Oh, and I just booked my flight to Houston to see/drive/buy it and THEN double-checked their site and the car is no longer listed! So it may be gone which means it sold sometime in the last 24 hours.

We'll see tomorrow when I call them...

Mobonic - Just PM'd you.

Another reference:

I just purchased a 2007 CPO, meteor grey metallic, black, sports chrono, MT, Bose, full leather, 19" classics, 30k miles for 49.5k. The Nav and S adds at least 5k on the car you're looking at, but it's a 2006 (that means it was probably purchased in 2005, so your CPO warranty will be done in 2011) so that subtracts something, I'm not sure what. Also, a red car usually should be a little cheaper (not as desirable to the general public).

It's not a steal, but not a rip off, either. That sounds about right.

FYI, most CPOs come with a new set of tires, clutch, and break pads. it's part of the CPO process.

Thanks for the reply. The 2yr/100k warranty starts the day I buy it so it would in theory expire 4/2/2012 (if I buy it this Friday). Sounds to me like the price is pretty much right on based on the feedback so far.

Now if it's still available is another story.

Seems like a pretty good deal- and don't be influenced so much by their asking price- a good deal is a good deal whether they're asking $10K more or $50 more than their "bottom" line. I just traded in my '07 C2S Arctic/Blk (w/CPO) 15K miles with similar options for $55K and they sold it for $60K+ 2 weeks later-

Oh, is that how it works if the car's original warranty expired already? For my car, the warranty is good for 6 years after the original date of purchase. So the warranty actually expires in 11/2012. If the 06 warranty expires in 4/2012, that's not bad.

I don't think this is true in terms of KBB, but in reality, it's probably close. S cars are apparently much more desirable, so people are willing to pay for it, even if it is "overpriced." So, in fact, the market and demand dictate the value of these cars rather than some arbitrary reference source.

Which was great for me because I was perfectly happy to get my hands on a "cheaper" and "slower" non-S Carrera...

Its a clear choice for me:

S cars have:

Better Brakes
Better Suspension
More Power
More Torque
Better Resale Value

I think at that price its about right... mid $50ks. BUT I would honestly think about getting a base 2009 Carerra instead. You can get a used on for about mid $63k. So for about $8-10k more, you get a car that is 3 years newer, has 3 year + of factory warranty left. The performance on a PDK '09 Carerra I believe is better than a 2006 Carerra S as well.
