GPS Camera Alert Devices
GPS Camera Alert Devices
I just read about the GPS Angel which is a battery powered device that sits on your dashboard and provides location alerts for speed and red light cameras. It looks good but its database must be updated using a PC-only program. I have a Mac.
I am still interested in getting a GPS camera alerting device as a supplement to my radar detector. I assume that others on this board share this interest and have probably used these devices. I hope that you will share your experiences in this thread.
As I see it, the factors that are important are:
If there are other factors that are important, please describe them.
Finally, I should note that I will be using the device in the United States. I have seen quite a few of these devices advertised in foreign (UK) publications but not in their American counterparts.
I can't understand why the database for proprietary device would require a downloading program. But if a device is limited to using databases that can only be downloaded using a particular type of computer, please mention it.
Thanks in advance.

As I see it, the factors that are important are:
- Ease of use
- Reliability
- Ease of updating the database
- Accuracy and comprehensiveness of the data base
- Frequency of database revisions

Run a PC emulator or use a friend's laptop (download new data to 9500ix not necessary too often, though they have weekly updates)....
