Left of the screen, you have a button labeled 'sound'. Press that.

Now on the right side of the screen, you have a button labeled 'options'. Press that.

One of the items shown will be "guidance volume". Select that and adjust.

Thanks Gary. I will try that tomorrow

1 more question - listening to iPhone using universal audio option. I pick a song from the track list. I go into map or NAV or some other screen, I can't seem to get back to track list without switching to FM or SAT or whatever and then back to iPod. Once I do these multiple steps I can select track list again. There must be a way to access track list without having to leave iPod.
Thanks!

Thanks

Damn, just gave a guy a hard time on Rennlist because I thought it was you cross-posting your question and not reading the answers. Will have to go apologize. And to you for thinking harsh thoughts, P997S.

I'm afraid I can't help with the Ippud. Haven't got one so I haven't fooled with that jack on the universal audio option. I do have a USB disk installed, but I don't see that behavior.

What does drive me nuts is when I remove a CD from the player and the PCM somehow reverts to Tuner-FM instead of the last choice I had made, like Disk-USB or Tuner-SAT or even silence for preference. We have no audible FM stations and I always forget to turn down the volume before ejecting a CD, so the static is deafening.

actually Gary I did cross post at the same exact time. I do read the answers on both boards.
I think there is nothing wrong with asking the same question on 2 different boards. Different users and different boards. If we assume all the same people use both boards than there is NO reason to have two - we should just vote and use one. But the fact is there are many people that only participate on 1 board so we get different people answering questions and thus different responses. When I need help getting an answer to a question/ problem I ask in both boards so I make sure to get a good answer in a timely fasion.
Does this make sense?

I don't have strong feelings about it on technical lists like this, though it is discouraged on discussion lists just looking for good conversation. (Actually, I've never questioned why, but I do know it offends many people in those venues, so I avoid it.) In this case, I just let myself be misled by the difference in your user names and my own laziness in not checking the date-time-group on your respective posts. No offense intended.

I did not mean to mislead you. I just wanted to make sure I received the most accurate and timely responses. I agree about dual posting for the sake of conversation but when it comes to getting answers about differences in wheels or a nav question I think itvhas it's purpose. Otherwise, why have multiple boards?

I can go from a nav screen to the "Disc" button to get back to the track soft key. I think I can also scroll through the MF steering wheel page button (set on the default) to get to the soft key. I never have to go back through the FM-Ipod-USB selection screen. Now getting directly to a track screen from another app screen I will have to check on. (I can't remember if this is a MFSW selection option.)

Separately, I have recently seen a problem where sometimes the track list for an album is alpha sorted (and plays that way) and sometimes it is by track number (and plays that way) for the very same album. I can't figure out what causes this to happen.

Try a search for navigation volume. You get:
