Did you have the Bose premium system before the upgrade? Did all you do is replace the headunit or did anything else require an upgrade to retrofit this headunit?

After reading all of these great info, i am very intrigued on replacing my PCM 2.1 too. I currently have a 2006 Porsche 997.1. Are there any reputable installers in the Houston area?

Nice! - have an 04 C4S and looking for quality installer in Minneapolis-love the car. I put Victory Innsbruck Rotary Forged Wheels w/Yokohama's and love em. Victory makes Porsche custom wheels specifically.

If you into the settings you can have the music mute when using bluetooth

I'm getting the same unit put into my Cab next week. I have one in my Jeep. With the Bose system you don't need to replace the speakers -they're already great. And I think the Avic sounds fantastic. It has a built in customizable equalizer as well. One cool trick with this Pioneer is you can add a flash image (the first thing that pops up when you turn the car on) from the SD slot. Download a nice Porsche logo and convert it to jpeg, put it on an SD, and follow the instructions in the unit setup to make that your flash screen. It'll look OEM!

If you have Bose Premium Sound, you'll need to use a special wiring harness because it's fiber-optics. Otherwise it should connect to the existing wiring.

I have PCM with Nav w/upgraded Bose and it came with Tooki w/bluetooth.

Sound is actually pretty good for factory. I did the bass speaker hack (putting cotton in the bass air vent) and the bass hits hard. With that said, I spend more time driving the car and having the window down so I don't really "blast" the music to warrant an upgrade to a better sound system. It would be nice to have an integrated iPod connection but I'm using an external charger for that.

Well i sold this car at the end of 2010 and i'm looking at now getting a 07' C4S Coupe.
Am i gonna go this route again?
Not sure.Might just keep the original setup ( which the one i'm looking at has Nav ) do the bass hack and add the Dension iPod and bluetooth interface.
There's no way i can live without iPod integration and Bluetooth.

Why did you sell? Why would you not get the same thing installed in your new car? Were you not impressed?

Picked up an install kit from Eurospeed in FL - Guy sounded great - has wiring harness included just for that reason I believe. Curious what they are using for your install?

I sold because i drove a 993 and fell in love...
But quite honestly the 993 is just not a daily driver so i ended up getting rid of that as well.
Generally though i like to switch cars quite fast.
But now i kind of want a 997 Coupe and keep it for a while.
I really loved the Pioneer head unit and all the features it had but the install was a bit of a hassle.
Because of the Bose , switching head units required i lose the centre channel.
Plus the day i got the car i went directly to get the Pioneer installed and didn't get to try out the sound system. Now after trying it out i have to say that in it's stock form it sounds pretty good.
But the PCM is still horrendous!
So what i'm going to do is at least get a dedicated iPod and bluetooth adapter ( from my understanding Dension is the best )
And for Nav i'll just use Navigon on my iPad ( which is always by my side ).

You can do this with the Kenwood as well. I have done it on mine. Got the info from a Kenwood user forum
