Question another Bilstein Damptronics question..

Did a search, couldnt find a precise answer.

I'm getting the damps installed this week. I'm planning a very moderate drop (indoor garage issues)..

Question: inside the Bilstein packaging, there is no other part than CO's. So i assume nothing else is needed, am i right ? The mechanics asked if i have other drop links or else ?

I know that lowering the car a lot will change the suspension geometry (and therefore require other mods) but in my case do i need something else ?

thanks for your help

Everything should be a direct fit for you. Drop links only if you are changing front sways that aren't designed to fit the C2S (ie: GT3 sways would require new drops). installation is tricky - if not done perfectly, you could end up with what I called a "Sproing" noise (see my posts from a few years ago).

You won't need any other parts if you're using stock sways as RonCT corrrently stated above. You reuse the stock strut tops, steering bearings and one or two other bits and pieces. Once the suspension is rebuilt it is ESSENTIAL to have a full cornerweight and geo done or you'll die as soon as you drive the car - I'm not over-stating the case here either! (And bear in mind that the Bilsteins need to be set up with the driver and half a tank of fuel on board, or weights to match).

YOU ALSO NEED TO HAVE YOUR STEERING ANGLE SENSOR RECALIBRATED USING PIWIS AT A DEALER AFTER INSTALLATION. This is stated a dozen times in the Porsche workshop manual but is often overlooked. It makes a big difference to how the suspension reacts to steering inputs and also affects the PSM safety systems. The car is potentially dangerous without this step. Other Damptronic owners please note!!!

As for settings - I had the suspension on mine set to RoW Porsche sport settings with slightly more negative camber on the front. This setup will give you razor-sharp handling and turn-in with enough ground-clearance not to cause issues; it's only RoW PASM -10mm. Settings are as follows:

Front

Ride Height: 123mm (measured to the Porsche recommended point under the car)
Camber: 3/4 degree (45 mins) negative
Toe: 0.5mm toe-in on each side

Rear

Ride Height:143mm (measured to the Porsche recommended point under the car)
Camber: 1 degree 40 mins negative
Toe: 0.7mm toe-in on each side

The results of this setup, on PS2s, even with stock sway bars, is so far in advance of the stock suspension you'll laugh like a kid with a new toy - the car's cornering ability is simply staggering. However, there's still enough ride height and wheel travel for a good ride quality and to negotiate most normal bumps/slopes without issue.

I had mine installed last week by a Bilstein authorised installer. out of the box only the coil overs, tender spring, main spring, top aluminium plates and centre dividing spacer (between main and helper springs) with nyon washers came in the box. No drop links were included (nor required) as advised by my installer. I still get the clunk noise when turning the wheel (see other threads) but all else is good.
