TPCRacing CT-520 Turbo Install
TPCRacing CT-520 Turbo Install
Given the interest in this newly released kit, I thought I'd share my personal experience with TPC Racing and the installation of the CT-520 into my C2S.
I dropped off the car on 5 June with a fairly lengthy work order:
1. Install a CT-520 turbo Kit
2. Install TPCRacing V2 Pro Series Adjustable Sway Bars
3. Corner Balance and Set Ride Height
4. Alignment
5. Oil Change and Brake Fluid Flush
First step is a baseline Dyno. The car was dropped off with a few MODs designed to make power (X-51 Headers, BMC Filter, AWE 200-cell CATS and SOFTRONICS Flash). TPC noted the car made, "Good Power" but had issues after 6k RPM with engine vibration. The vibration was attributed to a less than optimum ECU tune.
BASELINE DYNO:

Next up is removal of the exhaust system. The headers are replaced with modified stock headers and the cans and cats are completely replaced with a custom set-up, designed and built by TPC Racing.
I did ask if they could use the X-51 headers for this project and was told "no" for two reasons: 1. There is not enough straight section on the X-51 headers to work with in this application, and 2: Turbochargers work better with shorter primary header tubes (i.e. factory 996/997 Turbos/GT2's all have short primary tubes). Normally aspirated engine are opposite, they like long equal length primary headers tubes.

Anyone interested in some low mileage CATS and X-51 Headers...

Looking a little light in the rear

Next step began installation of the CT-520 Kit (Phase 1/Week 1):

Phase 2 (One week later):

I am looking forward to getting the car back next weekend...and looking even more to getting it back to the track on 17 July at a PCA DE to really see the difference.
I'll post more pics and my subjective opinion of the end result soon.

I've had my TPC turbo for a few months now and love it. No regrets. It's crazy fast and my only concern is speeding tickets. I haven't tracked it but would imagine it would be a big plus. I look forward to hearing your opinions on your updated car and the track day. Good luck!
the TPC guys are awesome. They did a fully stage 3 suspension and tune on my 997tt and the car is just perfect. Maybe a Europipe in the future, but other than that its perfect. Runs strong and perfect.
That's a great-looking build. I love the exhaust tips on that system. If you can, get us at least an audio, if not video clip on idle, and rev, if not a drive-by.
Great car! Congrats!

The install ran into a few snags, most of which are associated with the ECU Software. The '05 MY C2S apparently has an "orphan" ECU that required TPC to come up with a rewrite of their base S/W load. Mike and the team have been working fairly diligently at working the issues but given there is only one Mike (he personally does all the s/w and tuning) and one Dyno at TPC I've beeen put into a "wait patiently" mode for several weeks while they troubleshoot and address the problems. The TPC team has been great in keeping me updated on progress but being without the car for 6 weeks in the middle of the summer is a bummer.
With all that said I expect to have the car back by this Friday. Once I get it back I'll post up the dyno results and some personal impressions on driveability.
