2007 C2 track question

Hello,
I've been tracking my 2007 c2 3.6. After driving the car fairly hard during the morning, in the afternoon I've found that going from 3rd gear to 2nd the gate to go into 2nd would not open to allow the gear change. I know at high revs/speed it won't do it to save the motor from accidentally revving too high. I'd be doing about 60-70kph and under braking or coasting the transmission wouldn't give me 2nd. Outside temp was about 30•c..should I be looking for a racing grade transmission fluid?

upgrade transmission oli.

change the transmission oil every time you change regular oil in car

track cars get used harder so need to be maintained more often and better

I do not think it was ever discussed here in details - what oil is used there and is there any DIY instruction for that?

Sounds like it could be a syncro, the transmission doesn't have the technology to allow or not allow you to select a gear. It is a mechanical system.

I had the exact same problem on my 05 997 C2 yesterday on the track. Didn't have any problems in the morning but it started in the afternoon and got worse. Good thing it was towards the end of the day. Had no problem getting into 2nd on the drive home. Will be taking it into the shop this week and will let you know what they find.

About a month and a half ago, I was having some problems shifting at the track. The car would not get in some gears (usually 3).

A few weeks later the shifter cable broke and I had to get the car towed to the dealership. Since the cable was replaced the issue has been gone. It may be the cable for your cars as well. You should get it checked.

Hey guys, talked to local dealership. Was offered an appointment next week to ride with a tech. They need to observe first hand that it's not downshifting...If I'm not tracking the car it's usually fine to downshift....asked about changing the transmission fluid. According to Porsche the transmission fluid on a 2007 shouldn't have to be changed for 12 years! This is a real dealership! I hope you guys have better luck
