Certificate of Authenticity Inaccurate?
Just bought my first Porsche...a 2006 C2S coupe CPO from my local Porsche dealer. I was fortunate enough to find the contact info on the original owner and he graciously provided me much insight and a thumbs up on the car. In addition to the original window sticker and other records, he sent me a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The Engine/Trans Type on the cert is noted as 'M96/03/G96/00'. Yet, when I checked the engine # stamped on the car it begins with 'M97/01. In other records with the car I also found 'Engine M9701-686' and 'Trans G-9701-10'. Obviously, the COA is incorrect? Have others found discrepancies on their COA? The VIN # and other info on the COA appears to be correct. I love the car and gained much insight from this forum throughout my shopping process!

Mine had the same error and I had them correct it. Once they corrected it, they still messed up the sticker price but, since I have it, I didn't bother with them fixing that. Not only did the first COA have the wrong engine and transmission, it also had mistakes with the optional equipment!
Curiously, the COA that I got for my 87 Carrera was 100% accurate.

The original owner that gave it to me said he ordered it from Porsche for ~$100. Useful to me just to have the additional detail on the car...and nice to have in the file if I sell it at some point.
