RFI / 997.2 DIY oil & filter change

Just wondering if anyone has done a DIY oil and filter change on a '09 or
'10 non-turbo 997.2. There's a great step-by-step DIY oil change thread in the 997 DIY section - https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-m97-70-a.html - but unless I'm mistaken (and please correct me if I'm wrong), it doesn't apply to a non-turbo DFI motor.

I don't mind changing my own oil and filter, in fact I prefer to do it myself, that way I know it's going to get done right - and I can do it for the price of parts.

Is anyone aware of a DIY oil and filter link posted anywhere else?

Thanks ahead of time...

My guess is that the procedures on all Porsche boxer engines are similar. Real easy to find out:

Get under your car and see if you see the filter cover hanging down and drain plug (see my pics in linke above). If so, follow the instructions I provided in the above posted link.

I was thinking about posting a DIY for the 997.2 DFI engine the last time I changed my oil. At least, for the 3.6l that I have. It is a little different than the 997.1 with respect to oil filter placement but otherwise very similar. In fact, I think it is probably easier since the 997.2 DFI engine has the oil filter on top for a little bit more convenient access.

I've been changing my own oil this last year and it's been very painless with this car. If no one posts a DIY for the 2009 and newer year by the time I need to change oil again (approx. 1700 miles), I'll take some pics and write some words.

Now, I ain't promisin' it'll be as awesome as some of the other DIY threads here but I'll do my best!

Mr. Williams, You, sir, are 'da man'!.. that's precisely what I'm looking for.

Thanks much,

(Since I'm not a paid member over at the Rennlist, I can't 'search' - might have to consider changing that.)

It is nice to have it up top, the GT1 block has the filter up high as well.

That Rennlist write-up is great. Saves me the work to make one! I agree with one of the posters there that it's nice to see guys working on the newer 997.2's.
