Fabspeed CAI for 997.2
Fabspeed CAI for 997.2
I am looking for an easy way to improve the horsepower in my stock 2009 997.2 C2S. I was looking at the Fabspeed CAI on USP Motorsports website last night and saw that it would increase the horsepower from 385hp to 402hp.
My questions are:
1) Does it really increase the hp just by replacing the CAI?
2) Does it void the factory warranty?
3) Is this DYI? I am pretty handy myself so I think I can install it if I have the instructions
Thanks in advance, guys!

I doubt it is worth 17 hp over the stock air intake (manufacturer claims are always suspect, IMHO), however it may add a couple of hp simply by being less restrictive due to the increase in filter surface area. I doubt it qualifies as a true cold air intake and is probably more subject to heat from the engine bay than the stock intake because of less shrouding surrounding the filters. Because of the lower restriction you will gain some air intake noise which will add to the sound of the car under accleration. Voiding the warranty is something you'd have to discuss with the dealer who does your service. Some accept modifications and some shun them. find out before you have a problem and they try to blame your new intake for causing the issue. Easily a DIY project.
I have it on my car and I really can't notice any HP gains, but it does sound great above 4000 RPM's. As far as the warranty issue, I'm not sure, but I've had my car at the dealership after the install, and they said nothing about it....
I also have it. Agree that IF it has horsepower gains as advertised, you won't feel them. It does sound better, looks pretty, etc.
And, it is very easy to install. I did mine in 15 minutes. I could probably do another in 8.
If you want big gains from a box, the Sharkwerks is supposed to be the best out there, but it's also ~$2500

Yes, you're right......sorry. I will probably transition from my Fabspeed to that someday, but I could do a few more things with the price difference,
I dont agree with most claims that mods have for our cars. But thus far it is the mod that I have noticed the most. First I did the full tubi exhaust/BMC drop in filters and noticed a little improvement (but a lot of improvement in sound). 2 months later I did the softtronic ecu tune which I noticed just a little improvement. 3 Months later I just did the fabspeed CAI and I really feel like my car is much faster then stock when driving over 3k rpm.
Go to fabspeed website they have a video to explain installation.
Questionable with your service person of whether it is a warranty issue.
Hope this helps
