Which collection of cars would you have?

Hi,

I have a three car garage which I am filling with my sports cars. I want your opinion on what to fill it with. It mostly involves 997s, other wise I could could not find a general section to post in.

Currently it is filled with two cars, 04 360 F1 Spider and a 997S. I've also got an S550 which is kept in the attached garage buts that's irrelevant. With in the next year I want to add some type of SL AMG to that garage and also upgrade the 997S to either a 997TT or 997 GT3. Maybe in two year I will be trying to get a f430 spider.

Also with in the next year I am hoping to join a motoring club (for track use) so I am keeping in mind having a car that will be nice on the track.

Anyway, the point of this thread is to give you my situation and the car candidates so you can tell which trio would be best.

There will always be a Ferrari Spider here 360 now, maybe 430 in a couple years.

But, here are the four candidates one Porsche for replacing the 997S and an SL for the open bay:

997 GT3
997 Turbo
SL65 (2005-08)
SL63

Now, for my situation, what two would you pick out of there (one Merc, one Porsche) to make the best trio?

By the way, any other recomendations are welcome, but keep in mind I really only want a trio with a Ferrari Porsche and Merc.

Decisions Decisions... can't help you man... BUT, all I can say is I want YOUR job to have a stable like that! Hahaha...

Nice collection indeed

Wait a sec, I can afford a stable like that as a dentist, and then some!!! My only problem is the wife, 2 kids, and the house, I've got the wrong priorities! I need a single wide and an 8 car garage, kids don't need to go to college and my wife can move in with her mama. Hahaha.

Definitely GT3 over turbo.

Will not get either of the SL, but get the SLS instead.

For track use, the GT3 has the edge over the TT in my opinion (not starting a debate or a flame war. I had 2 TTs and now drive a 997S).

I love the TT as a road car and will no doubt go to a 997TT once I can stretch to it. But I don't track my car.

I can't help you with the Mercs. I have no experience with either.

I can tell you a thing or two about Ferrari though. Wait to upgrade your 360 to either a 360 Challenge Stradale with some upgrades or a 430 Scuderia.

I drove a 430 Scud a few months ago in Maranello and that was BY FAR the most fun I've had on four wheels with my clothes on...

If I could own one car, any car, that would be at the top of my list.

Nice problem to have... I like Targa Tim's suggestion, the SLS exhaust sounds sooooo sick in person.

I saw a Basalt Carrera GT when I just had my car in for service - stunning, gorgeous, wicked - if you got the deep pockets and can find one, very hot!

You have a great problem.
GT3 could be your track car.
The 360 CS is a great idea. But so is the 430.
I'd make the third an Aston Martin. Best looking and sounding car on the road.
Good luck solving your problem.

Even though I am not a Ferrari fan I do notice that you stand firm with wanting that car . If you sounded as firm with either the Turbo or the Gt3 then it would not matter what anyone elses opinion would be.

So my opinion would be to NOT buy either Porsche with this type of uncertain emotion . Both the Gt3 and the Turbo are well made expensive cars but if one buys the car having doubts it just makes no sense .

Good point.

But I feel the real problem is I really want the Turbo, I love that car. I when I think of the fact I may be tracking multiple times a month, a 360 Spider and a Turbo are really not to fun on the track, and the two SLs shouldn't even be taken to the track. So that's where I'm at. When it comes to road use and just the ownership of a Porsche, I want the Turbo. But then I think of my situation and I think GT3 is best and maybe more fun. But then I start to miss the Turbo. So.....

How about a Turbo S cab PDK and a Lotus Exige for the track?

I would have a 997.2C2S Cab with PDK instead of the SL, a GT3 for those fun/track drives, and get the F430 (as they are so much nicer then the 360...no offence).

At the moment a little pricey for me. Maybe two years the price will be more my speed.

Then again, maybe sacrificing the GT3/Turbo would be a good idea, but though I love Mercs, In fact they are probably my favorite manufacturer, IMO the SLS is not a real looker in comparison to even an SL63.

The thing about the SL65 is the fact you can pick up a low mileage 06-07 for ~80K is so damn appealing. Plus with a GT3 (or Turbo) and a 360 in the Garage it would be nice to have such a grand tourer.

Forgetting about the track, and thinking strictly the cars I actually want, it would be 430 Spider, 997TT and SL63. But do you think having that trio would kind of an overkill when it comes to having Grand Tourers? In other words, would I have too many cars that are luxury focused instead of being performance focused?
