High Mileage 997 - good buy or stay away

I found a 2006 911 C2S, nav, sport chrono, bose, manual with 57k miles. Being sold by an independent, bought at auction. Brakes have ~50% so I'm guessing it's mostly freeway miles. Price is right around my budget at $42k, and of course I'd get a ppi, but should I be nervous about the mileage?

Thanks

I think that price is kind of high for that mileage. I have been checking out quite a few cars lately and have found cars with way less miles and for a few grand more. I personally would not buy one with more than 30k miles on it

No I wouldn't be nervous about the mileage at all. If the price is right then go for it, these cars are exceptionally well built and will last well beyond 100k if looked after.

Get it PPI'd and perhaps consider an aftermarket warranty.

Agreed about the price - seems a bit high considering the mileage, though the options list looks nice.

WRT the mileage itself, there are a couple of threads about high mileage 997s and it sounds like 60k is no big deal.

Might be a nice deal at a lower price.

Thanks all for the input. I saw another similarly optioned high mileage one go for $39k recently on ebay... but buying on ebay seems sketchy to me.

Hehe, coincedence... nope... that's the car. And I generally follow the motto that the interior and exterior shouldn't match, but the black rims are awesome, especially with the tinted windows.

BTW is that you Oliver?

MMR is about $36K or $37K. That is what they are probably in it. Cars with 68K miles are going for $33K to $34K at Auction. Offer $39,500 MAX!!!! Definitely Definitely not worth $42K. Good Luck!

Thanks for the MMR. And thanks everyone for the advice! It sounds like the consensus is high mileage isn't such a problem if the price is right.

OT: I recently bought a black 993 with a grey interior from Sloan Cars. Why is grey felt to be less desirable? With black exterior, and a black dash I think it looks fine.

It's not the color gray per se.

I believe in the old days Porsche would not make a car that had the same color exterior and interior. It just doesn't look right. There's not enough contrast.

So for me black exterior and gray interior is fine and so is vice versa, just not black on black or gray on gray.

I agree. A little contrast is nice. I think grey can look nice with black, white, and yellow.
