Won 2nd in a Concours today!
"congrats"
I took 3rd with my 2004 C4S once.
My daughter and I worked days and hours on that car prior to the event.
Knowing the effort we put in to our 3rd place, You "EARNED" that 2nd place.
Great job

John........ Congratulations!
BTW......... I will tell everyone that the pics John has posted of his car, do not nearly show how impressive the car is in-person. (I saw it 2 weeks ago when we were in my wifes Z3 heading south on 400). It's one of those neck-turning experiences when you see the car pass by!

Glad to see the Jim Ellis Concours was a success - I wanted to be there but had other commitments. It's always funny to me how the judging works - 0.1 point deductions here and there for dust. Don't get me wrong - you earned a great score, but given that almost all the competition scores 132+ out of 140, I feel like the judges are splitting hairs...
Not railing the judges either - I was one at the last Concours. I just had to follow the system so scores were consistent across the board. I think they follow a National PCA Concours rule book for the rating system.
Anyways, congrats on the victory!

Congrats...I know how much work goes into winning any kind of trophy at a councours.
Have you considered replacing the black bra with a clear bra? It's probably just me, but the big old black cover out front makes the front end of your car look huge.
Regardless, job well done!

Thanks, guys!
As you know about me, I am never satisfied, and so I am now in the process of ensuring that 2nd place NEVER happens again.
BTW, I am the SEVENTH owner of this car, and I have EVERY record for it since new- a 6 inch thick file of every work order and receipt. Every oil change, valve adjustment, wheel alignment, etc. Receipts from Pelican Parts, Ollies for the top end rebuild, Weideman for the wheel refinishing, even the original bill of sale for $48k back in 1987. It's a treasure to go through the archive, particularly in that all 6 previous owners evidently loved this car.
It's got 128,000 miles on the odometer. I hope our 997's look this good in 25 years!
So now what? I am doing a complete interior renovation of the car. I already did a lot, but am now in the process of installing new carpet for the entire interior- not a minor job. While doing this, I will replace, repair, renew, or otherwise make perfect everything else on the inside. This means taking out the gauges (all 5 of them) and disassembling them to clean them out on the inside, replacing the inside door handles, dying any faded vinyl, repainting the seat rails, installing new weather stripping, etc...
Here are 2 new exterior pics. The 2nd shows my license plate, and my Dad, who could wear the same plate to describe his age...
