Is this a good deal? 2008 911s NEED Expert HELP!

I am looking at an out of state car for purchase that is on a Porsche Dealer lot. I have attached to inspection report along with the options and recent 20k mile service receipt. I want opinions on:

1. is this a good price for this vehicle?
2. is this the complete 20k mile service that was completed or is there something major that was not serviced?
3. should I be worried about a Pcar dealer misrepresenting their CPO vehicles?
4. how does the inspection report look? Tire tread, brakes, ect?

The dealer will send my the DME scan when I decide to take the deal (contingent on the results of course) along with the opportunity to discuss the results with the mechanic that performed the scan. The car has a 3M bra on the front bumper so I'm not too worried about rock chips. Clean carfax report, salesman inspected with a paint meter and said all panels read the same (is what it is "salesman").

And finally the car has:

- Price of $59,900
- one owner
- 19,xxx miles
- 2008 911 s
- 6 - speed
- CPO until 7/21/2014 or 100k
- offering 1.9% APR
- arctic silver
- black over grey full leather
- full service history done at Pcar dealership @ 6,932 / 13,550 / 14,339, 19,xxx miles, all completed at the same dealership

I really appreciate your help and opinions

This appears to be a 911 Carrera base model, no notes on coupe or conv. The $59k seems high as a starting point given 20k miles. The service data notes a Cayenne oil change ? No CarFax ? Do they provide images of the tires? If cpo they have to be new tires. Even w/ cpo it's still 'buyer beware'. I'd get the CarFax and ask for details of the three services. Where is the car ?

Paul,

I have a copy of the full carfax and the actual CPO report states the proper vin # and model in the description of the vehicle. It was too large to post the whole report so i had to cut and paste. In addition, the retail price was $98,xxx and I have attached the options list. It seems that the only normal option not on the vehicle is heated seats (see options attachment in original post)

Car is in Arizona and has been since original purchase.

Thanks for your time and help.

How deep into the buying process are you? Driven several cars, base coupe, c4, others, 997.1 vs 997.2 ? Do you feel the base is an entry or at your limit? Was there only one owner? I found aggressive behavior for a specific car can be helpful but this one seems pretty common. Follow-up on the tires also.

I suggest you go to a local dealer and really push a salesperson on a similar car. Find out what the market is locally prior to jumping out of state.

No committments of any kind have been made towards to car. I have been looking for a while / reading the forum ect.. I have driven a 997.1 C4 non S and it didn't have quite the power I'm looking for. I have also drive a 997.1 6-speed S and tip. At that point I knew I needed the S. I do however like the wide body's but it's not a deal breaker for me. At this point, I haven't driven the 997.2, which I might be able to get into a preowned 997.2 non S but the S version is out of my price range. Looking at spending $62k max. Have you experienced the 997.2 Non S version Vs. the 997.1 S? if so, how do they compare in performace? Would be looking at a 997.2 PDK.

The car mentioned above is 1 owner and includes the following options:
-full leather (black over grey)
-sports chrono
-ipod and Aux input
-6-speed
-Psm/Pasm/Nav
-bose upgrade
-one owner (all service completed at the same dealer with all records)
-stainless / illuminated door sills
-lobster wheels

IMHO 997.2 is worth the money and possible wait. Though the S and pdk will add a min. $5k to the tally. The PASM is the a great upgrade (which this target car has) as is the direct fuel injection. But at $62k you'll need a lotta luck or about a year.

Been having the same debate

I've been evaluating the same car and having the same debate. Whether to go with the 997.2 or purchase this 2008 911S. Based on my research the mileage is a little high for this model year, but a 2008 CPO 911s with 3.5 years is a pretty good deal for ~ 60K. However, I can't figure out why it has been sitting on their lot since last August. In any event I'm leaning towards the 997.2, as it appears that the 997.2 with the PDK and sport chrono should be as quick as the 911S. Furthermore, my understanding is that with the 997.2 engine redesign the IMS and RMS-related issues of the previous version are thing of the past. Happy hunting.

How is 20K miles on a 3 year old car high? That's less than 7K miles per year. It's def not low mileage, but I wouldn't call it high. Porsche maintains that the cars need to be driven 6K+ miles per year for certain parts of the warranty (battery) to be valid.

For comparison, last month I sold my 2008 C2S for $62K. It had 18K miles on it, was the 2nd owner, CPO'd, and had all the desired options (no full leather). So, I'd say the price of the car in question is not bad, even better if you can knock a few grand off. Have no idea about the car specifically or why its been sitting on the lot for 6 months.

The car had an in service date of Aug. 2008 and traded-in Aug. 2010, so that's about 10K per year which I agree is not excessive, but more than usual. I'm a little more surprised about the length of time it's been on the dealer's lot, not sure if this is normal or not.

Ok -- I have a few questions and comments .
I am not sure if i found the right car but I did search all listings for a 2008 Silver C2S and see that there is one that fits your description at a BMW dealership affiliated with Porsche . So i went to the actual Porsche website of that same dealership and the car is NOT listed . I also noticed that all the other Silver C2S cars are priced higher (at dealership listings only) .

That sounds like a lot of inconsistency to me .. but as I said I am not sure if I am looking at the right car .

Have you seen , driven and inspected the actual car ?

Go to North Scottsdale Porsche if you want to see the car.

That car is listed on their site at 74K (it's not the car i thought originally). That's quite a huge drop to 59K . 15K since august ?

The car does look nice in pics but they all look great on the used car lot .
a silver 997S ought to sell easily .

Have you seen the car and driven it in person?

You have the right car, it is listed on the dealer's site at $74K, but it has been reduced to $59.9K. It was also posted on e-bay. Unfortunately, I haven't seen it. My plan was to find a reputable dealer and have a car shipped north for the most part site unseen--may contemplate driving one north depending on location. In Canada, Porsche's are still grossly over-priced compared to the US market.
