Replace PSE with aftermarket?

I am thinking of replacing my PSE with aftermarket Borlas. I've already changed the cats to 200 cell AWE, but the sound could still use improvement. Has anybody gone this route before? I'm thinking the only thing that would change would be the ability to change the exhaust note via sport button.

Have you thought about headers, like x51?

headers and 200 cell cats should be an improvement over cats alone. Frees up air flow nicely.

I have read that the X51 headers do not change the exhaust note that much.

You might want to try the X51 headers. I found the combo I had on my Targa was perfect: PSE + X51 headers + 200 Cell cats. I don't know what the headers contributed, but I know the total sound was great, and I loved having the choice of louder and softer with PSE.

i agree the headers will help, though not dramatically (will make it a bit deeper). a new air intake would also incrementally add sound, especially in the higher revs.

i would recommend adding both of these before swapping out the PSE's. if you're still not happy after that, you can go for new mufflers, and still keep the headers and intake. if you do try new mufflers, i'd highly recommend hearing them in person first.

I have X51 headers, 200 cell cats, and Borla exhaust. I did the X51 headers b/c it was fairly inexpensive and figured I would do the whole exhaust together. The free flowing cats make the Borlas sound awesome. The Borlas alone tended to drone at about 3000 RPMs but with the cats and headers, the drone moved down to about 2300 RPM so I rarely hear any drone at all now (not laying on the gas at 2300 RPM).

gator - i saw your youtube clip and that's what made me think about borlas, the sound is awesome
i think i may take the advice here and try headers first.
