DIY Battery Cable Replacement??

Hey, I have had my 997 since October and the battery went dead after not driving it for 2 weeks. I checked the voltage and its at 12.8V running.

I'm leaning towards the battery cable, which is a known issue! The battery was replaced right before I purchased the car. So I know that is good. I still need to check at the back of the alternator to be certian.

Has anyone replaced this cable themselves? I searched and there are price quotes from $280-$900.

Thanks

Good question. I think you need to pull off several panels under the car.

Check renntech.org maybe Loren (moderator) can advise you on DIY'ing the job.
You want about 13.6 - 14.5 V running I believe. I'd check the output at the alternator if you can get at it. Good luck.

It should be 12.8V wit the car NOT running.

I'm extremely handy with cars and have rebuilt/restored plenty of things with wheels. I'm just curious as to the complexity.

sig65, you ever end up doing this? About to do it myself. I haven't looked at it, but I imagine airbox + intake mani removal will do it.

I image the real work begins. I haven't found any write up's on this either, searched Rennsport as well.
