rear spoiler noisy

hey guys I was driving the car, after I parked I noticed the rear spoiler didn't retract, so I went to do it manual but after getting the spoiler down it sound like an old door wheen needs some wd-40 maybe it was some seal, I don't know if theres something you have to lub inside or what the deal, any help on this ? or maybe this is normal

If you look, you should be able to see the shock/s that the spoiler uses during it's motion. That is a likely spot for the squeak and for the resistance in the motion. (Assuming the actual motor is OK)

Others have suggested a little WD40 works to lube these.

On other cars with hatchbacks, I've used some good old 3-in-1 oil on the inside post of the shock (Chrome part that rides into the body of the larger piece) and wiped it down smooth to clean it with a rag. That has fixed issues of squeaky movement for me in the past. I've not tried it on my spoiler yet though.

I would use a different lubricant (e.g., tri-flow). WD-40 is mostly solvent, paraffin & perfume.

Use Sailkote.

"Sailkote is a translucent liquid that sprays or wipes on and completely dries in seconds. So, unlike oils, silicones, and waxes, it will never attract dirt, water and contaminants that eventually degrade lubrication performance."

goncookoo is infamous around these parts
Mine does this too. I did a bunch of searching on this forum, Rennlist, etc and a lot of people say they have this issue as well.

My car is still under warranty so Im bringing it in Monday morning to get it checked out. I have a feeling they are just gonna lube it up.

I'll try and remember to report back what they decide to do with it.

The first step the dealer will take is to clean and lube it. Then if it returns, which mine did after a month, they will replace it.

Update on my service for the noisy spoiler:

The service rep called and told me that I have the same problem as 911ESQ... a bad spoiler motor.

solrac6262: From your sig, your '09 is still under warranty, so I say just go get it checked out and hopefully replaced.
