Gundo hack
Gundo hack
A friend recently installed the Gundo hack on his 2007 Carrera S. He feels it sounds a bit quiet but opted not to do the 2" pipe and installed the 1 1/2" bypass pipe. I recommended that he do this since I also had done the hack using 1 1/2" bypass pipe. I had forgotten that when I first heard my exhaust that it sounded a bit anemic, but now after 4,000 miles since my installation, it sounds perfect. Anyone else have this experience ? My feeling was that the 2" pipe would have been a bit loud and I was after sound and not loudness. Those who have done the 2" bypass pipe, has it gotten noticeably louder after the initial installation ? Thanks for your feedback.
I used a 1.75 pipe and have gone probably a thousand miles on it. It hasn't sounded any louder than the first day installed. Actually, I feel like the loudest is during it's cold start. With a warmup around the freeway, the car sounds even closer to stock idle than when it's cold. Here's mine day one

yeah, there is nothing in the design to suggest that they would get louder after day 1, except for the fact that the OEM mufflers tend to get gradually louder over time, as the interior packing degrades.
with any exhaust, the sound is loudest on cold start. i think this is because the ECU is programmed to run the engine rich, in order to more quickly heat the cats.
if your friend wants more volume, i highly recommend the AWE 200 cell cats. they pair great with the gundos!

I'm in Hawaii. I took my C2S to a local exhaust shop that does a lot of Borla and even printed out the pics but they refused to do it
Wish I knew someone who was good at welding LOL.

Darin Fister is in SF CA. He is a super guy and will really try to help you if he can. I have purchased a number of mufflers from him and the quality is excellent. He also has a number of coatings for those that only want the best. His main business for a while was decorative fencing and he is an expert welder. Give him a shout. No affiliation just a very satisfied customer 3X over.

Ship them to Darin (in Northern California) or swap your mufflers for ones that Darin has in stock. You really can't beat his quality. He uses a SS tubing and weld. The pipe is longer than typical because it is mandrel bent and placed so the bypass is vertical and close to the cans as installed. The diameter is 1.75". The only negative about the mod is my gas mileage dropped to 15.3 miles per gallon

NP. Also, my exhaust hasn't increased in sound and I've driven approx 2000 miles since the mod.

I can't seem to ease up on the throttle either!

PM for your video and your exhaust tips.
