How do you guys close the trunk of your p-car? Search turned up nothing.
I find myself not wanting to slam the thing closed, so after I put it down, I press on the crest quickly with a decent amount of force to make it click and lock.
Is my hood faulty? I see the hood flex quite a bit and Im afraid after prolonged use I'll dent the thing.
I understand metal can flex a bit etc... but it just doesnt seem right that I have to do this.
I noticed it flex today again and I cringe every time I have to press on the hood.
Any thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks!

I keep a few microfiber towels in the car and grab one each time I need to close the frunk. I use the method shown in the Porsche ad.
If you're worried about denting the thing, you might want to get a das schild. I bought one from Pelican and I love it. I actually had a Porsche Logo put on it.

The way I was instructed at the factory in Stutgart is to pull it down using the inside metal ring and then apply pressure on either side of the badge. It was stress not to use the badge technique, since it will eventually cause it to come loose,
This just proves that there are NO silly questions on 6speed! I use the Crest method too... never thought about it coming loose! Maybe I'll start using the "factory" method, although I am wary of scratches. I suppose a few tiny scratches are better than a missing crest
There may be a "factory" method but then again it's addressed in the owner's manual too - amazing what you can find in there. Since it says "area of the lock" (pretty vague), I always push on the area in front of the crest, never on the crest. Here's what it says:

Lower the lid and close it.

My sales guy told me to use the above method while we were doing the pre-delivery walk-thru. He said the frunk lid is thin-wall aluminum, and it can/will bend if closed improperly. I figure he knows what he's talking about. The Helpful Tip from the factory says the same thing, so that's the way I do it.
Anyone know the source of the "Getting to Know..." info. Both the 997.1 and 997.2 owners manuals have the same language...not that the owners manuals are gospil though. Over the last 10 years with 1 996 and 3 997's, I've always closed by using palm pressure at a single point in front of the crest, never any issues.
