yes or no to spray on bra?

My body shop tells me they spray on a product that works like the transparent film for paint? They 'say' it doesn't yellow like the film, but..here's where I became skeptical, it's supposedly permanent??

I'm going to start DE this year and anticipate maybe 4-5 days a year?

Any thoughts on this? Go film, spray, or have the car painted on the hood, bumper & mirrors maybe once?

Thanks for any feedback.

David

I wouldn't put anything permanent on the finish - if they mean it cannot be easily removed - seems like a bad idea.

Film works, doesn't look bad, and can be removed or replaced as needed.

+1 Film. The spray on product just sounds like another way for them to get you back into the shop.

Instead of spray on bra, just let it get chips and re-do the paint when the time comes.

I just had a clear bra put on my car to help protect it during DE's. The complete front end (bumper, hood, fenders and lights) is covered along with the mirrors, door handles and rear fender lip. You cannot even see the bra. Cost was $1700. In my previous cars this solution lasted about 2-3 years and I do about 15-20 track days per year.

I have heard the spray on material is very difficult to get off. It also doesn't spray on smoothly so it will have a textured look to it.

There are numerous films out there. Although some yellow so hold their clarity very well. A good film and proper maintenance will prevent yellowing.

This sounds like an awful idea.

bad idea... vinyl shops don't do a good job. i have never seen a job that's even close to good clear bra. we are talking to peeling edges etc.

is the actual product cost that high or is it mostly labor?
