Passenger side rattle gremlin found and fixed !!!

I've been driving for about six months with this intermittent rattle which only a great CD can cure. It was one of those rattles that seems to just get under your skin and dampen the "excitement". I've been hearing this on rough blacktop or brick/cobblestone which I thought was from the glove box (which it wasn't), then thought it was the passenger seat, then the dash, then the battery, the A pillar, etc.

I removed the front wheel and trim and sure enough was the A/C line running a fraction away from the inner frame of the car. Touching it produced the sound!! No spacer or clamp..nothing securing it. I eventually settled on wrapping weatherstripping around it like a donut, did the necessary cobblestone test and voila!! Silence at last.

Just thought everyone should know where to look if it happens to you

Thanks for the workthrough! I have this intermittent squeak I haven't chased down yet, but this gives me ideas about how to tackle it.

Never found the clip. It sounds as if it'll pop off readily every time you hit uneven train tracks (which I cross daily) or potholes given the write up from me (and rennlist) which I never found but EXACTLY the same issue. Just wrap the line with adhesive weatherstrip to form a donut and it'll NEVER touch metal again no matter how hard the bump

I have a squeak coming from the area near the passenger side rear side window, or behind it. It's mild, but fairly constant. I've had it to the dealer twice, but no luck yet in getting rid of it. Sounds like it's different from yours, but if anyone has an idea, I'd love to hear it.

Thank you, may be that is the sound! Because I only hear the sound when there is no one seating on the passenger side!

alam is your rattle a type of popping sound..especially over small bumps or rough roads?I have the same noise coming from back there to.Almost sounds like it is coming from directly below my rear window.About where the carpet trim and window meet.Any thoughts?

Great work. Now, how about figuring out why the driver door/window squeeks on my 997. Boxster did the same thing and I could never determine if it was the window rubbing up against something inside the door or the door seal rubbing up against the body of the car. Drives me nuts. Only happens when the window is down.

My '06 Cabriolet does not have one squeak or rattle. Knock on my Madagascar. I think it's because I keep all the rubber/plastic parts treated with Sailkote (http://www.mclubemarine.com/sailkote/) on the even months and 303 Aerospace Protectant (http://www.303-products.com/shop303/...fm?category=58) on the odd months. Just a guess.

I believe I was told that there is A nut that tightens the rear windows sns these can loosen over time. I think the dealer will tighten these if under warranty. It Also causes rear popping sound when driving out of driveway or incline at am angle.
