Interior Door Handle -- Something Broke
Hi all, I did a search first, but couldnt find anything.
I own a 2006 C2 and last night as I was exiting the car, something made a loud snap inside the door when I pulled on the handle.
The door handle now does not pull tightly against the door panel, and kind of sags down a bit, which causes the window to always be in the door open position.
Has this happened to anyone else, and does anyone know what I need to fix?
Thanks!
Andy

Here is something from Rennlist: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...ed-by-cpo.html
Looks like it's a $25 part.
The Parts Catalog (downloadable PDF file) is on the Porsche.Com website.
Got to "Personalization & Service" then "Porsche Service" then "Parts and Diagnostic Information" then "Porsche Original Parts Catalogue". You can then select the model you want to view.

Clifton at rennlist has an excellent write up on door panel removal here:
http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...l-removal.html
His RS door strap install is helpful in understanding the axle mount:

Parts are about $25. If the dealer installs, labor will be $200-250.

Guys, thanks for the links. I guess I'll be trying to pry off the door panel next week. I guess thats step 1 to see if the $25 spring broke or if something else broke.
ecostello- if you do end up doing this fix and taking pics, that would be super awesome if you posted the pics here.

i had the same problem, wasnt a spring problem. i took out the panel myself. it was the cable latch that broke, so now, i have to order the whole cable to replace.. the long white one that goes inside the door panel.

2006 C2 Door Handle Broke
Thanks to the great information on here, I was able to easily repair my broken door handle. The only challenge is the new handle design requires that you also change the cable. This involves removing the interior metal plate and undoing the door latch so you can pull it partially out and insert the new cable. You will need a 12 point driver (30 or 40 mm) to get the latch out.
As noted follow the link to Renlist on how to remove the door panel, its very easy. The new cable has a different barrel type end instead of the old bent end with a plastic bushing . The parts (new latch, cable and 8 new door grommets (they break when you pull the door off) was only $45 at the dealer. This fixes the floppy door handle that started after that popping sound. The noise is the spring letting go when the plastic stay breaks off.

The first pic shows the door handle. Note the spring on right side. You can't see well, but look at the bottom of that side, there are two small tabs that stick out on either side of the small rode. There should also be two point upward at the bottom of the spring, note the small tab on the right is missing. That allows the spring to come loose and the pop sound you heard was the spring uncoiling. Just note that the cable and handle need to be changed because the design has changed for the handle and cable end. Good luck.

Had the same thing happen to me a few months back. It is pretty is to fix, there is an article out there giving you step-by-step. One thing worth noting: when you remove the sideview mirror cover, pry it towards you a little bit and gently lift it straight up. There is a little hook there, that easily breaks (mine did). Worse case, you'll have to glue the little hook back in place. Other than that....
