And felt it worked better than the oem paper one? Thinking about doing this, but still on the fence.

I'm using the replacement k&n filter. You can't feel any difference in your butt dyno but it's washable and last a long time. BmC cost a little more money for the same result.

I just installed the K&N kit that replaces the airbox and man!!!....
I thought the car was going to fall apart the first time I took it for a test run. It is waaay louder than stock, especially inside the car. It's been about a week now, and I have to admit, I'm either getting used to the sound, or I am used to the sound. Lol

Be careful with the oiled filters, guys...

many, many posts have been issued on this and many oterh sites that indicate that the K & N's oil can coat your Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) and screw up your air readings-- requiring the MAF to be removed to be cleaned-- or replaced (expensive). Maybe not the original filter out of the box when it's factory oiled-- but when you clean it and reoil-- you either run the risk of too much oil-- which winds up on your MAF-- or too little which let's the dust and dirt through into your engine. Independent tests all agree that the K & N's are only 96-97% as effective at filtering the fine dust (micron level) as the paper elements. Do some research for yourself, but I don't think it's worth taking the risk with a very expensive engine to gain a max of 5-7 ponies-- real world figures. You can't even feel that with your butt!!!

check it out, and make wise choices....

Same here. The first time I wound up the engine to 6K it stalled when I came off the throttle. I had just finished the install so the interior light had drained the battery. Had to pop start it before it came to a complete stop stranding me in the middle of nowhere at night. LOL!

Once the computer got used to the change all was right again.

It really sings above 5k rpm but power increase is negligible. I guess I was getting kind of bored so it was a fun mod but I will probably put the stock air box back on for reasons mentioned above.

I'm with you Doc, I might go back to the stock air box in a month or two.... I don't want my 2 y.o. daughter having hearing problems in the future.

In case anybody wants to hear it. The audio is pretty accurate but doesn't quite capture how loud it is at higher rpms.

Cheers.
