Angry Someone backed into me while parked.

I parked in a tight parking lot yesterday.
As soon as I got out of the car, a girl in a honda civic backed up into me (at a 45 degree angle).
Her rear bumper hit my rear bumper (passenger side corner).
Now the bumper reinforcement is showing through the bumper.
I took a picture with my blackberry (resolution is not very good).
Will the whole bumper have to be replaced?
How much will it cost to get this fixed?
Thanks in advance,
David

i don't think you have to replace the whole bumper. take it to a well known body shop that works on porsche and i'm sure they can fix it.

Why would you want to fix the bumper ? Get it done right at a high end body shop with a new bumper. No plastic filler. Bad enough your car was just devalued several grand because it was in an accident. Don't compound the problem with a shoddy repair.

You (or the honda person) have insurance, correct? Why even ask the questions?

If it's the other party's fault (and it seems like it is) then just let the insurance deal with it. Just keep on top of it to make sure that it is fixed and fixed properly. Hell, take it to the dealership or someone who works on Porsches. You may have to front your deductible, but you should get it back from the lady with the Honda.

Thanks for all the replies.
At the time of the accident, I got the girls license #, insurance, etc.
I called my insurance and reported the claim.
I'll let you know what the outcome is.

Definitely should replace the bumper cover with OEM parts at a Porsche Certified bodyshop.

i had the same thing happen to me except it has a hit and run. never saw the offender.

i bought a used bumper cover in the same color and put it on myself. $350 plus my own labor.

you can get an estimate for the replacement, get paid from the Honda's insurance company.

after you get paid, you can decide to either replace or repair. it definitely looks repairable and would be undetectible from the outside if the paint matches.

repair would cost you about $1500. replace is probably $4k. bumper part itself unpainted is 1.5k new.

Thanks for the info.
I will try to make a push for a new bumper.
I'm planning on taking the car to Marcos auto body.

You definitely won't need to replace the bumper. The dealership can make it look exactly like new again and I'm willing to bet that is what they (the insurance and dealer) are going to tell you. It's just the bumper ... not the fender, or lights, structure, etc (luckily).

just take it to Marcos on atlantic.. talk to Carlos.. get an estimate for ur insurance co.

if its not repairable to look like new, Carlos will talk to the insurance agent to sort it out for u to replace it with a new bumper.

if u r paying out of pocket, Marcos will be too expensive, tho.

Devalued several grand for something a little larger then a scratch. You have been listening to Larry too much.

Fix and drive it, it is just a car.

Man that'll buff right out...

Seriously, a bit hard to tell, but it does look like it would buff out 80%.

If you're really going to go with a new bumper and the factory one costs $1.5k (WTF!), then this is a great time for a GT3 rear end conversion!

from looking at the pic, there's a slim or next to 0 chance the ins will pay for a new bumper. as others said, you have 2 options. first is to take it to the dealer and let em fix the bumper for you, pay the deductible up front, and claim the check. second is to take it for an estimate, get the check and do whatever u want with it.
