Car Seat Question
Car Seat Question
So I have twins that are 4 months old and about 12 lbs each. Is there any seats for infants that small that fit in the back designed for these cars?
There are a few threads on this if you search, but unfortunately, nothing is completely plug and play. And I don't think you'll be able to fit 2 kids rear-facing. You could *possibly* get one seat rear-facing with the passenger seat all the way forward, but then I doubt you could fit another one rear-facing in the front seat.
My daughter is now forward facing, and I installed a Britax Roundabout. It took a few hours of messing around, unbolting the seat belt receiver and twisting it to line up better, etc. but it fits very snugly now. Been meaning to post a new thread about the install, but haven't gotten to it yet.
The fun part is that my 19 month old daughter now goes outside, points at the car, and says "Porsche! Vroom!" Then she takes her shoes off and asks to get in. I've created a monster already and I love it!

I have a son who just turned 3. We also have a 7 month old daughter.
So, I've been through the carry-along car seat deal once and have started up again with my daughter.
Our son was sitting in one of the front facing car seats just around one year old. So, the rear facing ones aren't around forever.
However, they are very large and take up alot of space. Not only that but when your baby gets older they get heavy and awkward. I would think it would be rather difficult to even get it in without scratching the car all up or banging your child around. A cabriolet might be easier though.
I bought myself a new Jeep Wrangler (4 door) just to make it easy on myself when we wanted to take my car somewhere as a complete family. My wife has a Highlander. SUV's are easy as pie to load the kids up.
Anyway, good luck to you and CONGRATS on the new family addition!!!!

Just google "Britax Roundabout" and I'm sure you'll find everything you need... I believe it can work rear-facing to accomodate smaller children, but as I mentioned, I don't think that would work well in the Porsche, if at all.

Minivans are even easier. Wife had 4 SUV's, until she considered a fully loaded Honda Odyssey (Full leather, Sat/Nav, In-dash MP# changer, every door is powered/remote controlled, captain's chairs, removable seats, reconfigurable seating, hidden storage, AND rear storage when completely full with 8 passengers, etc...). She loves it a LOT more than any SUV. And we don't have to worry about the kids opening doors into adjacent vehicles in a parking lot.
(She was given unlimited budget for her vehicle, so she had plenty to choose from and consider - that is what she chose, based on her criteria without money being a factor (literally - I offered her a Land Rover, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, etc...))
It does depend on the size of the family, along with other preferences.
i use a Graco. My kid is 18 lbs and she sits rear facing behind the passenger seat. The car is now a 2 person car with her, as none will fit in the passenger seat when she's back there.
I'm now shopping for options for her to go front facing in about two months, which would allow the family to venture out in the pcar.

I'm a new dad and have been researching the utility of a 997 with (possibly rear) and front facing car seats.
Good info here, thank you!
One thing that you may not know is that there are updated recommendations re timing of transitioning kids from rear facing to front facing.
Formerly 1 year, now extended to 2 years (weight and height notwithstanding).

Obviously, we may do as we wish, but I for one will follow these new 'suggestions'.
Happy fatherhood to all.
