So you held down one of the buttong in the car until it started blinking, then walked around the front of the car, pointed the remore at rhe front of the car and held the remote button down until lower lights flashed and it did not work?

Maybe check the batteries in the remote or try the reset function as described in the manual?

It worked great for me.

I did try that many times but still no good. The funny thing is I use same method on my new Panamera 4 and it works right away. I will try that again tonight and see my luck.

Sometimes you have to also press the learn button on the garage door opener too. Once the car has learned the code.

Did you guys try the homelink instructions I linked you to - looks like you got as far as step 5 - only steps 6,7,8 and 9 left. I'm 67 years old and I've been able to figure it out on 3 different 997's

Do we agree that "while keeping your fog lights in view" means that the fog lights needs be of switched off during this process?

I finally programmed my garage opener on my P. Thanks to you. I went to my car just now and tried. This is what I did and I followed the manual on page 156.

1. turn my engine on
2. i pressed and hold buttons #1 and #3 (about good 40 seconds) until light (next to button 1) flash quickly.
3. then, I press (&hold about 2 seconds) desired button which in my case it was button #2. the light (next to button 1) flash slowly.
4. then I took my garage door opener, went out and stand next to front bumper and press and HOLD (for me it took 5 seconds) the door opener UNTIL fog lights flash 3 times.

if you like to program one more button then go back to step number 3 above.

5. turn the engine off and take the key out.
6. you are done!

to test, engine must be "on" for the garage button to work.
Good Luck!

It takes patience - if you got the foglights to flash 3x they you completed the most difficult step. Don't turn on the fog lights - the flashing just indicates you successfully completed that step. You don't need to start the engine either...but the ignition does need to be on. After you complete the "learn" step you may have to push your Homelink button a third time to get it to work - make sure the car isn't under the door.

After fog light flashes 3 times, I turned the engine off and removed the key.
