I'm Back: new engine going in...
Hi Folks,
As you know I experienced an unfortunate catastrophic engine failure due to the well-known IMS issue among the early '05 C2S vehicles. I was able to negotiate a new (with upgraded IMS) engine from my dealer for $12k plus estimated labor of $3k. Not bad, really.

i would also keep it stock, naturally.
PS. have you opened up old motor? was it recoverable? rather than to mess up with SC i would try to get this old motor to 400hp NA level if you can get it redone. folks say it is a doable thing with M97.

My understanding was that the larger IMS bearings were installed in the '06 997's too. I believe you were responding to the specific question about the '07 but just wanted to be sure...
To answer a few of your questions:
-The new engine is actually $16k, but I got a $5k "goodwill" discount from PCNA as I am apparently a good customer, own a couple 911's, and so on.
-The new engine is a brand new C2S engine, with the revised IMS bearing
-I am going to sell the SC, and enjoy the new 2 year/ unlimited mile warrantee
Let me know if you're an interested buyer- $5k, all in.
Best!

Carrera / Carrera S
05 = Same/Similar Single bearing IMS as 996 cars
06-08 = Revised double bearing IMS
09+ New Engine Design with no IMS
GT3 = No IMS
Good to hear you got things sorted out CattMan.
Great that you are putting in a new engine. You will have two years to think what you will do with the engine
How close did you get to putting in a 4.0 or something else? Im asking because I'd like to know my options when/if the times comes. I can't do a GT since I need the rear seats.
