It's a crazy world out there.
Well, you put together a story here but we only have a statement that the Porsche driver pulled a gun out to ( shoot?, threaten?, intimidate?, protect himself?). Like weapons of mass destruction. Just because one made up the story in their own head, it doesn't justify the action. ( sorry for the political reference but this is how this $#!t happens)

Did you just admit in a public forum that you hid from a Prius driver?

Bad call to cross a double line to pass, you should have acknowledged your mistake, but if he continued to tail you at that point, you should have just left him far far behind. Looping around 4 times, driving an hour out of your way, and then cowering in your car hoping the big bad man doesn't slap you is just silly.

OK, I can see the humor if a socially responsible Hells Angel dude got out of the Prius. Could be a SNL skit.

That's funny. I was imagining the ironic "Hell's Angels dude" scenario too. I'm thinking that I would pull over to let the Prius driver vent. (I'm not too arrogant to offer an apology.) If I see the Hell's Angels dude get out, then no I yell sorry out the window and stomp on the gas pedal!

I'm beginning to wonder about the maturity of some of the posters. Venting is one thing, but some of the conversations seem to be drifting into middle school fantasy land.
When I rode bikes, we had a saying: Go Ride.

Speeding is illegal too and if anyone here says they don't do it on occassion I'd find that very hard to believe driving 300+ HP cars like we do.

Ummm.... Dope, Porsche and Gun don't honestly work or fit together very well. Gang Banger, Impala w/22's and Dope are more appropriate. Honestly, there aren't too many God fearing Porsche owners that would go to the trouble of getting a Conceal and Carry Permit and use the weapon unwisely. It's your Right unless you live in a Communist State like Illinois.

God Bless the man that has the testicular fortitude to legally conceal a weapon to protect himself and his loved ones. Oh...God Bless the women too.

Actually, not very funny at all. You unfairly put the Prius driver is harms way so you could get "there" faster. Your choice was poor, and his was no better, only showing that bad drivers come in all colors. Ironically, you probably arrived behind schedule by pulling that j*ckass stunt.

IMO, seems like pretty harsh criticism for crossing a double-yellow to pass someone. Might have been safe to do it in his situation.

So let me get this straight. When the DOT paints a double yellow because they determine it's not safe, you take that as a mere suggestion and feel you have the right to override their determination? How about red lights?

Among other things, I've designed roads. Passing and no-passing zones are set based on assumptions regarding the speed of both vehicles and the sight distance. Those assumptions conservatively cover most typical situations, but that still leaves situations where passing can be done safely ... like a Porsche passing a slow Prius where the sight distance is good.

I'm not advocating disregarding traffic safety measures. Just saying that judgment can identify some situations where it's safe to do so. And for that matter there are situations where safety dictates staying well below speed limits, not passing in passing zones, etc.
