C2S versus a Prius-- Funny, sorta...
Among other things, I've designed roads. Passing and no-passing zones are set based on assumptions regarding the speed of both vehicles and the sight distance. Those assumptions conservatively cover most typical situations, but that still leaves situations where passing can be done safely ... like a Porsche passing a slow Prius where the sight distance is good.
Howso?
My point was, who gets to decide which social contracts we have in society just get ignored when one wants to? Do you get to decide when you may endanger someone elses life by driving on the wrong side of the road recklessly? Do I get to decide when I use a firearm recklessly?
I guess the proper analogy would have been me coming over and shooting it an inch past the side of your face. I'm a good shot, its a good pistol, its perfectly safe from my perspective, and I get to choose for you whether you are really in any danger or not.

Based on that logic, since I've got a very nice Heckler & Koch Mark 23, you won't mind if I come over and shoot you in the face with it, would you? After all, why buy a nice handgun if you cannot ignore societies rules on the use of the equipment, right?
Yes, I did just say that.
Yes, I did just say that.
Pretty funny that I'm defending spirited driving in a Porsche forum!
Slight difference there my dear Watson ehh Manifold. The fact that I do 75 miles per hour in a 70 mile does not hurt anybody. It's just a mindless bureaucrat that decided 70 miles is the right number.... It does not even have anything to do with that particular stretch of road... it's a result of a formula that determines what the speed limit should be based on average speeds measured. It's like " today we decided that the speed limit will not be 55 miles per hour but 70". That little statement did not make a hoot difference to the public driving 80 miles on that stretch anyway. They could get a ticket but hey you also can get a ticket staying 30 second too long in your parking spot that also did not hurt anybody. On the other hand your Glock makes that nice little hole between your eyes... it certainly will enlighten you. BTW You really shoot H&K's??... hmm...
One major caveat... don't let that experience fool you into thinking you know how the car will react at another location at another time. The road plays a big role in how the car reacts. When you stomp on the breaks on a road that has ruts form trucks, and you drop anchor... the car will pull madly to one side or the other or both... so even though it may have worked in the daytime on the wide-open interstate that was flat, doing so on a 2-lane, no shoulder highway in an emergency may send you off in into the ditch without anyone else's help.
The problem is you frequently don't really know what the sight distance is, because you assume you know what your sight distance is, and you can be wrong. Sure, you may be able to see 1/2 mile down the road at night. But did you notice that 150 yards up ahead on the left is a gravel driveway that enters the road from between the trees? Suddenly (unbeknownst to you, the "I know better what is safe" driver, your sight distance is really 150 yards, and you are covering 37 yards per second, giving you about 4 seconds to clear and get over if someone pulls out making a right turn (because nothing is coming from their left, so they just turn onto the highway).
This is good stuff! Demacrotch....
These pot smoking tards kill me with their holier than tho mentality. They wrap themselves in products made of oil and look down their noses. Every single Demacrotch that I've debated with is so' uninformed and doesn't understand the facts. Intellectually, I now believe they are incapable of critical thinking. The God of Conservatism said it first, "Liberalism is a Mental Disorder."
Just got home from LA and I love the State....beautiful!!!! Could never live there.

Well, in California - you know .. the flipflop wearing ehhh Birkenstock society .. the ones that votes Demacrotch again and again, we have a bunch of these sardine tins. As a matter of fact, a friend of mine - a LEO (Law Enforcement Officer) - tells me that most of the speeding tickets are now earned by the Prius crowd zipping along on the freeway at totally unsafe speeds

Here is a funny one for all you Prius and low-breed ( is that how you write it?? ie the opposite if hybrid ) folks.. Redwood City, located here in the Bay area has done a longterm study ( 8 years use) to validate if those hybrids they purchased actually would be more cost beneficial than the traditional vehicles used by the city in typical daily use. And the answer was... drum rolllll.......... Nope they were more expensive, had more issues AND less residual value.... They are being replaced with .... you guess it.... gas engined vehicles. How come you NEVER hear about those findings???
