PCM navigation install. Assistance needed!!

I found a good deal on a 06 C2S, PPI and everything else looks good so making the purchase next week. The only thing is that it doesnt have nav and I would want to add the nav. I have been told that with the 997.1 PCM 2.1 navigation, you only need to get the dvd system installed in the trunk, install an antenna and have the fiber cable run from the PCM module to the dvd unit and then have the system programmed by the dealer. I have also heard that you might need a whole new nav retrofit kit from suncoast.
Does anyone have any experience or gotten this done before and if so point me in the right direction as to what is exactly needed to get this done?
Thanks and I appreciate all feedback.

i got that done. simplest way for you if car hos no navigation at all is to order navigation kit from suncoast. it comes with dvd unit, mount bracket, power and optical harness and antenna.

you may get lucky and save half of money compared to suncoast kit if you get all stuff from ebay. you will need to check exact part numbers you wil need. 06 cars got newer dvd modules compared to '05 cars. also, 's' cars use horizontal DVD unit, C4S cars has a vertical oriented DVD unit, they are different, as well on Ebay you may get just a DVD unit with no mount bracket and harness, and it will be, well, useless without them. So be aware of that. and there is antenna too.
official installation requires to drill a hole for harness, but i beleive you may try to route it around inside via rubber gasket. look for mobridge install thread here to see how it`s done.

It's pricey but to ensure success I would purchase the Suncoast kit, too many variables buying off of Ebay unless you really know what you're doing.

If you're buying the car from a Porsche dealer, I would ask them to add it to the car as part of the deal and adjust the price to reflect that. That way it's covered under warranty.

yep, second that. make them also install mobridge or tooki or any similar ipod/bluetooth integration unit at same time - and you will have all you need technology wise in that car.

We have the Navigation retrofit for the PCM 2.1 listed o our site here:
http://www.suncoastparts.com/product//9970449010x.html

It has everything in an all inclusive kit, and (trying not to knock ebay here) you know the parts are factory Porsche in a brand new box. Buying used, you never know if it will work 100%.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy to help!

I have a Nav system that I just pulled out of my '07 when I replaced my stereo. PM me if you'd like to buy it - you'd just have to buy the antenna and bracket from Suncoast. Nav system was working perfectly... I just wanted a new headunit, and the one I installed has Garmin Nav built in.

Just an added note of caution. The nav kit for the awd is different than the rwd version. It may even have the same part number. It all goes in the same, but won't work properly. Don't ask me how I know.
But the SunCoast guys are excellent. Just be careful to specify properly and recheck the part number.
I should also add that I retrofitted the nav kit into my 997.1. Once I sorted out the awd/rwd thing, it's nice to have an integrated unit, but the user interface and functionality of the Porsche system is really rather antiquated. You have to decide if you feel that an integrated look is more important than a windshield stick-on that will work a lot better for much less money.
Oh, and the MoBridge works well too.

If you don't have the Nav, you might want to consider just installing a Pioneer or Alpine nav unit since they will be more up-to-date with modern technology and have most of the bells and whistles already built in.
