these ideas will come when they don't want to spend too much money (buying new 991) but do some changes to his current ride and want to have a different look(may be 991 poser). Don't just discourage the idea.

if they have money, they don't bother asking that question here, instead they have put the order in the dealer for 991 already.

i saw some 996 converted front and back look like 997(you dont even notice by looking at it), here is the link for those example -->http://www.wickedmotorworks.com/part...p?partid=10098

so why not 997 converted to 991

.2 conversion

I priced the parts at Sonnen Porsche and the paint work and installation at a local, well respected auto body shop in the Northern Virginia area. I have a copy of the parts list (invoice) if you would like to see it (pm me your email). I was going to do the Dectane lights, but these just won't look right with the .2 4/4S rear decklid. So, I've pretty much decided to go all the way (bumper, lightes, decklid, etc).

Woa... it aint cheap getting 996 front to look like a 997! Around 8K for parts and probably at least $2,000 for paint and install. The only car I can see making these changes to is a low mile Turbo that is holding its price. Otherwise that is a lot of money for just a face lift and a very high percentage of the remaining vehilcle's value.

If you're a purist & only like stock, that's fine. I happen to love the Patritti Wide body Cayman, so IMO mods can look great.

It's not 2025. I'd rather have LED's now instead of bulbs. Why 997.2 LED's when you could have 991? How do you know it will look bad if you haven't seen it done? I don't really care that the dimensions of the car are different. So were the Cayman and 911, but Patritti integrated it pretty sweet!

If I wanted to spend 80k I'd just get a 991. I'm not trying to replicate, don't care about different interior. Just think the lights look nice and interested in seeing them on a 997. People already make aftermarket bumpers for 987.2 conversions, why not mold a 991 light and make that.

Sorry, if this sounded harsh. If you have such a strong opinion about the conversion, you should have started doing your home work to look for a company to help you out. Asking questions here is bound to get you different opinions. And you're not taking them well.

holy cow ! that rear kit is $8000 !!

thats 10 % of 991 carrera msrp of $82k !

can u say 'bend over' ??

OP, just trade in your 997 and get the whole 991 instead of bits and pieces to make it look like one.

mods are suppose to enhance.. not re-create a-la Frankenstein.

my 2 cents.

Thank you. I fully agree. These days a guy comes on telling us he bought a 997.1 and the first replies are all about how he has to swap out all the lights for 997.2 looking LED's. It throws off the balance of the design imho. A 997.2 tail light has the lower corner cut and bleeds out into a much sharper corner on the other end. That allows for a cool look with the white LED's in the middle. But the aftermarket 997.2 LED look a-likes for the 997.1, look like big red rear lights with a little bit of white in the middle. It's not balanced. Sorry... off topic

Not sure what the point to the comparison you've just made, but the LEDs on the 997.1 look right. Of course that's my opinion and many others will agree, some others perhaps not so much. Hardly as you've described if intended as such.

Ah, I get it and thanks.

Not too long after I updated all the lights I did get some of that - some r!cer comments about what it made the car look like along with my knock-off painted wheel (Ruf rep gray metallic) comment.

As the lights were concerned I couldn't understand it because it's a 997.1 and I didn't try to be a 997.2 look-alike. I updated the front/rears with ROTtec LEDs, then updated the HID to 6K to match, then I updated the side markers to LED as well as the rear license plate. I'm now going to do the interior lights, hood and trunk lights. LOL. They're just brighter and really like the upgrade.

No worries as I'm not going to put neon lights under my side skirts or behind my wheels! LOL.

To your point though, placing the 997.2 on a 997.1 doesn't make sense since it's not what it is.
