maintenance of the soft top is fairly simple.
- use a pet hair roller to lift dust and lint
- wash using car wash is fine. spray with water to rinse out any dust.
- a couple times each year, spray a protectant on the top after the top is cleaned and completely dry

Unless you're getting something on your top you shouldn't need to wash it regularly. Twice a year use a high-quality top cleaner and sealer like RaggTopp. Get a horsehair shoeshine brush and use that to clean the top. I've used it on three different Cab's and they all looked like new. There's no good reason to use a lot of soap on the top.

My 99 996 cab I just traded in still looked like new. I bought it in 99 new and either parked in covered garage or had top down most of the time. I think sun is the big top killer so if sun is out put top down. I did put my top up every time I stopped some where so there were a lot of cycles on it without issue. Enjoy it don't worry.

Follow the above and I've been using this protectant on my Cocoa Cabriolet top for 6+ years. The Florida rain & sun are no match, the Cab looks like the day I bought it. This stuff has built in U/V protection & the water runs off the top like freshly waxed paint.

This is very helpful. I haven't treated mine at all (it's garaged and I drive top down as often as meteorologically possible). After 4 years it's time to give it some TLC. Thanks!
