'06 997.1S - Driving in the rain...

I dont tend to drive my car in the rain that often but I did last weekend. Im not sure if its just my car, but when driving, my car seems be fishing tailing. The previous times it was like that too when i drove it in the rain. Safe to say, i went right back home and took another car.

Does anyone else have that issue or is it just me? Tires are new and inflated correctly too...

Thanks for your assistance...

Under what conditions was your car fish tailing?

I live were there is lots of rain, and don't even think twice about it. The car is very stable in the wet (PSM), it is easy to break the back end out easily, but very predictable when it does happen.

Is the tread good edge to edge and not just the outside which is easiest to see? I made the mistake of thinking I had good tread once and then discovered the portion the car was riding on was down to 3/32".

If your tires are directional are they mounted properly?

As already asked are the tires at the appropriate pressures.

A little off here and a little off there and you can have an issue.

Alignment issues maybe?

Or maybe you need to back off from those redline shifts into second gear!

First off, just wanted to thank everyone for the input, this is why i love this forum...

I did check the tire pressure and tread-wear from edge to edge of the rear tires, i even took it to my local tire shop to have them check it and it all passed.

As far as the brand and model, its Hankook but i forgot the model...

Take a look on the TireRack site and see what they have to say about rain and your particular tire.

How much tread depth do you have?

One other thing to note, I would imagine that when the rain does come to your area, the roads are quite greasy from the heat and dryness, I am sure this is a contributing factor as well.

Don't chicken out and hide your Porsche in the rain, embrace the wet surface, and learn a little about car control.

i know many people are happy with the hankook v12.. but me and number of others had similar problems where the rears are very 'slippery'.

its as if the sidewalls were not stiff as it should be.

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...x-ps2-v12.html

now, i don't even think it has to do with mixing different tires front/rear..

personally, i wrote it off to defective tires due to lack of quality control.
