Softronic tune

I am considering a Softronic tune for my 2011 S. I would appreciate any info from those who have installed this tune including performance increases, ease of installation and removal, etc. Thanks.

I did the tune for my base 997 during the winter.

Getting the file downloaded off the ecu and sending it in and installing the reworked file was easy. Great instructions.

I did not do it for great performance increases, but on the street the car certainly has a little more pep.

I did it to help smooth out the RPMs in the higher REV range. The engine was a little choppy near red line and it was effecting how it and I performed at the track. The car is now smooth thru out the whole power band and I am anxious to see how it performs at the track.

I am not sure a tune alone is worth it if your looking for power increases. In fact its probable not all you should do if more HP is what you want.

But this tune has helped where I think I needed help and IMO it was a good investment.

I asked a tuner about softronic he mentioned it works great with a IPD Plenum/headers/intake/exhaust setup.

To get the most out of the tune, you really need the 200 cell cats. That is were the biggest cork is in the exhaust.

I just did a Softronic tune.
Like Buckwheat, my motivation was the track.
My shop told me that doing Softronic alone won't do much beyond what Buckwheat described.

If you want HP gains then you tinker with intake and/or exhaust. Then Softronic gives you a tune file based on the changes you've made.

I went with EVOms intake and Fabspeed 200 cell sport cats/x-pipe. I didn't want it to get too loud so I kept stock mufflers. You can do the whole exhaust and get more sound and some HP too.

I've been driving it for about a week and it seems great.
It is louder at start up. Then fairly tame at cruise with no drone.
At wide open throttle it screams and is noticeably quicker at 4000 rpm+.
I won't hit the track until early May.

Good luck and have fun.

The OP has a DFI car so the gains are different than a non DFI. Softronic does make the Interseries racing files for the DFI cars and also some in the WC. The gains in the 3.4ltre DFI egine are a consistent 30WHP and the 997 DFI cars get a bit more .
